Here's another way we can support the USA BLM protestors

I figure a fair amount of people in my tiny little corner of Tumblr are from the UK, like I am. With all that's been happening in the US, here's something we can do from here to help those protesting, and to stand with our black brothers, sisters, and siblings.

Please boost this somehow: people need to know.

The UK government grants export licences worth millions of pounds for rubber bullets, tear gas, and riot shields to the USA. These are now being used against peaceful protestors, journalists, and medics, who are involved in the BLM movement in many US states and cities. This is an injustice, and it should be the UK government's responsibility to freeze these exports. They are being used for internal repression, and this is an abuse of rights that we cannot remain silent against.

Hello everyone! My name is Raghad and I am from Gaza. I am currently in my third year of university at the Faculty of Dentistry in Egypt. Before the genocide, I relied on paying my tuition fee ($3000) from my father. Now, our home in the Gaza Strip in the Khan Younis area has been destroyed. Throughout the genocide, my dear father lost his job, which was our source of livelihood, and all of our financial resources became inaccessible.

Currently, my mother’s family (my mother’s brothers and sisters and their children) and my father’s family (my father’s brothers and sisters and their children) are all in the Gaza Strip in an area called Al-Mawasi. All of them live in tents and are struggling everyday to survive.

Living in Egypt has increasingly been difficult for me and my family. 5 months ago, my family (my mother, father, three sisters and one brother) evacuated from Gaza and are struggling to pay our rent and daily expenses. My brother,@mahmoud-sd who is still studying high school online, needs $100 per month for his tuition. My three sisters, who are also in school, each require $100 per month for their tuition.

Due to the harsh living conditions and the extremely high cost of living in Egypt, we must pay $150 per month for rent. Additionally, we face great difficulty in meeting our obligations, as my family’s monthly expenses are approximately $600, covering high prices for food, water, electricity, gas bills, and medical expenses for my grandmother.

In conclusion, I need about $20,000 in total to cover me and my family’s Here are the details:

I am Hazem Shawish, and I am trying to save my family from this war.

We live in Gaza, where we face significant challenges due to the current situation.

My family consists of 11 members, including my mother, two daughters, four sons, and three children.

In the shadow of conflict, our family has faced unimaginable hardships. The passing of my father, a victim to the cruel grasp of hunger and inadequate healthcare, left a void in our lives, underscoring the fragility of our existence here. My brother, Samer, battles bipolar disorder, a condition exacerbated by the ongoing war and the severe shortage of essential medications. Without access to the necessary treatment, his life is at risk, and we live in constant fear for his well-being amidst the chaos that surrounds us. These personal tragedies have deepened the urgency of our situation.

Every day is a struggle for survival, and each night is filled with prayers for a brighter tomorrow. We hold onto hope, believing that one day the clouds will dissipate, and we will find the peace we long for.

Our home, which was a sanctuary for us, was destroyed, forcing us to live in a state of uncertainty and fear. We have lost the laughter of our children.

We also face psychological challenges, as we have lost our father, and my brother Samer, who needs expensive medical treatment, is facing imminent danger. My mother, who has endured so much, fears losing another child. We are all suffering from malnutrition and contaminated water.

We dream of moving to Egypt to find safety, where our children can pursue their education.

We seek your support as individuals who understand the value of compassion and community.
