Okay so I’m relationship to this earlier post I made while the first eleven bots that had th matrix in still figuring out, except for Zeta Prime but he deserves who’s own post cause he’s the mess that started it all, though that’s more the matrix’s fault but both were innocent parties it’s complicated
But yeah for those guys there were divided into separate groups, the ones that had to deal with the quintessons and bringing control back to transformers, the ones after that building the bonds and figuring out politics, and the ones creating the innovation and expansion of colonies
But the most important primes are the most recent chronologically. When Optimus became prime it was the longest gap between the last prime to the current prime ever made before, and the longest one bot had ever carried the matrix for
Now let’s talk about the actual important trio for this, all bots that are red. I didn’t intend to think about it this way, but it worked so well so none of the previous primes (that weren’t the original twelve) have any red on their body, not even an ounce. It’s not important to the lore and parts of them, it just adds a cool visual effect for it, so let’s get into the nitty gritty
Remember Optimus is coming from the worst version of Cybertronian politics and class systems. That ties into his purpose for being Prime, resurrection is to bring new life into something and that was exactly what he did and what his purpose was, it just took way to long to achieve it with so many bumps in the road
While the planet was not meant to die, that death and then the rebirth of the core, minus him dying, brought about a new light for Cybertron. The war wasn’t meant to happen but it did, what the matrix wanted was for Optimus to find a way to restart, to take away all the failings of the previous primes and generations that caused the darker parts of their society. Just happens to be the war was the way it went down
It did fully make everything go back to the beginning, everything had to restart again. Everything that happened allowed the plant to resurrect into the form that it is society wise before the start of Prime of Fire. It’s a resurrection of society to try again and do it better this time, now with understanding the failings of the past and trying to make a better life then what it was.
But just like in Prime of Fire, he’s not the one meant for doing that. He’s spent too long as the Prime and like his predecessors before he was going to fall into the same cycle sooner or later that would turn him into a monument of himself, and not a fellow bot and become too lost in his own wisdom to see that he isn’t the one that is needed, and that’s how we get into
Prometheus is Relatability
Now Heatwave, relatable, give me a break. But it’s important for how the matrix chose for this. Heatwave as I’ve shown currently in my fanfic doesn’t like being Prime, he loves his life, he’s already burdened by enough work, and has found peace with himself and his issues. And then he gets the matrix making him basically a messiah and prophet of sorts figured and like I’ve done in the fic, he openly states that Cybertron and the colonies and allies shouldn’t need a prime for this, that a singular wise leader is not how this is going to work
Cybertron and the colonies have just come out of war, sure it’s been a few earth years but perspectives are still different, there’s still so much tension, and no one ever truly thought of the plan for the after, the after of how the hell they were going to bring together two conflicting factions who had their own proxy wars no where near earth, neutrals and civilians who are wary of all sides, and now human allies and the return of the colonies contact. The social dynamic within it all is so complicated that bringing in such a figure isn’t how they are going to truly not return to their old ways
Heatwave is relatable in the sense that he knows what it’s like to be at war with yourself. His perspective is one of personal conflict, of ideology, of connections and relationships, of teaching the next generation to do good. He’s not the face of someone you’d bow to or salute on command because he carries pure wisdom. He’s the guy you’d have a shouting match with, a conversation about all the shitty things you’ve done in your life and telling you that yeah you were a bad person but in war it brings out the worst in so many
I’ve stated before that his whole thing is accountability, it’s not his full thing but it’s a major part of why he was needed in this present time. It’s taking accountability for everything you’ve done and choosing to be a better person so that the younger generations can be so much better then you, to do better then what you messed up. That’s why he’s relatability, it’s the ability to relate with everyone and be pragmatic about it without the feeling of being judged by a higher being and instead being judged as a fellow bot. And once all of that happens much later down the timeline, being after the events of Uprooted it focuses onto the most important on for how the matrix truly changes
Rodimus is Reconciliation
I’m gonna be honest I don’t have fully story ideas or plots when it comes to Rodimus, aka Hot Rod, beyond a reworked version of Lost Light for this au that had a completely different motive and theming. Now after years (not the millions of years Optimus had it, but for Heatwave going on earth time it’s been a long time), unlike the rest of the Primes before him, Heatwave can feel that his time is up of being prime, and willingly lets go of the matrix knowing he’s not the one needed. But that’s only half true
The matrix does some calculations, while yes Heatwave’s time as a prime is up, the entire process of a prime doesn’t feel needed anymore. For now there is no true after, because seeing Cybertron at its current state and Primus itself speaking to the matrix, it’s concluded that the matrix isn’t needed anymore, at least not in the sense of helping to build the future, the bots are able to handle that themselves alone, and because of how Heatwave operates he can fully just have the matrix in him and he’ll just die with time still being who he is
So it’s mission changes, instead of the matrix fully leaving him, it does something it never did before, it split itself in half, leaving one part of it inside heatwave though no longer a prime but still having some prime abilities of his but no longer being with the title Prometheus. The other half went to Hot Rod, son of Orion and Elita, and making him well not a prime but it does give him a mission due to the fact he’s the only born child of a previous prime while they were still a prime and a bot who was rebuilt using the parts of the prime of time. He still calls himself Rodimus Prime even though officially and prophet wise he’s not a prime.
He’s even more himself then heatwave is with it, like yes he still thinks of himself as a prime, but not in the spiritual way the others were because well while he grew up learning about it, he also lived in the eras of after the war, the prime of fire time, the uprooted time, dealing with Megatron becoming Galvatron and Megaempress making her appearance, everything comes back to one thing, the sins of the past
And that is what his mission is, to right the wrongs that happened in their society. To fix what and heal and repair the damage done by transformers, from the scars they left on themselves, to the scars they left on countless worlds throughout eras. That is what the mission of the lost light becomes here, a mission of repair, a mission of healing, to finally set things right, so that finally they can move on and know that they healed what was broken. That is why he’s reconciliation, he’s Cybertron’s reconciliation to the whole universe
And yeah that’s basically how my brain is operating with the theming with the three and why they are so important for this
