Ventus took a deep breath, slowly taking in the dry breeze that swept across the endless sands of the Keyblade Graveyard. Dangling his legs from the cliff, he took a good look at the sea of broken Keyblades planted across the wasteland like forgotten gravestones. Countless rusted hilts and chipped blades stretched all the way to the horizon. He should despise being here. Yet, in some twisted way, this place brought him a strange sense of comfort.

The war is finally over, and the Guardians of Light slowly begin rebuilding their lives. Life in the Land of Departure settles into something resembling peace. Aqua starts healing from the scars left by years of isolation, Kairi trains relentlessly to become strong enough to protect the people she loves, Terra smiles more often, slowly learning to forgive himself for the things his body did under Xehanort's control, and Ventus tells everyone he's doing fine. He isn't. His magic is growing increasingly unstable, mysterious voices are haunting him in reality, and every night he finds himself drawn back to the Keyblade Graveyard. There, an encounter with a Heartless begins to awaken somethnig that maybe was never meant to be awaken.
