“Yeah, it was not a confession-confession,” Aidan said quickly. “It was more like ‘I love you, bro’, you know. When you’re with your best buddy and do something cool together.”

Hey, thank you for enjoying my story! I will try to answer to the best of my abilities. The inspiration for this particular storyline came to me while I was reading “Alice in Wonderland” - for the tenth time or something like that since it’s a favorite of mine. And it got me thinking how a character would try to reason with something as absurd as a body swap (which was something that was also twirling around in my brain at the time), and adapt on the go.

As for the second question, I think I’m a planster! I outline something, but not much, and usually, in the beginning, I only write down the main idea, a few plot highlights, and the ending - this last bit is something I learned from Pixar’s 21 Rules of Storytelling. But I never write a detailed outline because it would kill all the joy of discovering the story as I delve into it.

Great. So there were going to be two Mr. Ruskin’s, and that without counting Aron’s dad.

And here’s this thing. The face staring back from the mirror, the moment he wakes up in a hospital bed, doesn’t belong to him, but to douchebag Alex, aka Aron’s husband. And now he’ll have to talk to Aron, after two years of radio silence.

Summary: Mo Guan Shan receives a phone call, right after leaving his father.

The sun shone the same, the air felt the same, his mother’s warm hand on his shoulder was the same, but he … he was someone else.

He walked out in the open air, standing taller. A real man would live up to his promise, and that was what he was going to become.

His phone ringtone went off, waking him from his reverie. He sighed as he saw who was calling.

“Aren’t you going to answer?” his mother asked, and he just nodded solemnly.

A real man would not cower and run from the likes of He Tian.

“Yeah,” he answered.

“Where are you?” He Tian asked directly.

“I had something important to do,” he replied, not wanting to hide or run. Not this time.

There was a small silence stretching on the other end.

“Sounds serious.”

“It was. It is,” he added hastily.

“Are you okay?”

He Tian’s voice was neutral, void of emotion.

“Yeah, I’m okay,” he replied.

“Great,” He Tian exhaled on the other end.

“Why did you call?” he questioned, unnerved by the new small silence.

“To ask you to come home.”

“Why?”

He looked cautiously at his mom who was patiently waiting for him to finish his call.

“I need …”

He Tian stopped mid-sentence and Mo Guan Shan’s heart stopped with it.

“I need you to do the dishes,” He Tian said in a heartbeat.

“Bite me, He Tian,” Mo Guan Shan cut off the conversation.

“Ready to go, honey?” his mother asked.

“Yeah,” he nodded.

His phone buzzed with an incoming message.

I’m glad you’re okay.

He shook his head and snorted, earning a small curious look from his mom.

Another message.

Just come home quickly.

This time he chose to reply.

Dishes can wait, Jerk Tian.

It didn’t take long for the other to reply again.

Chapter 234 was really sweet and funny with He Tian dirtying Momo’s clothes just so he can’t get home, and then pretending to faint so he could have his beloved look after him. So perfect, He Tian, I’m so pride of you, boy!

But while we all have a laugh, it’s easy to overlook Momo’s reaction from the previous chapter when he got the message from He Tian and misunderstood the situation. The question marks from He Tian told everything about the guy not wanting to scare Momo by any means. At best, he was just trying to pull a very obvious prank.

Why does Momo react by thinking that He Tian is hurt? Again, I think it’s his inner fear getting the best of him. And it all goes back to his absent father. A parent who is no longer present, by choice or not, leaves behind a certain feeling of anxiety that the other parent cannot easily – or at all – alleviate in a child.

Momo thinks of the worst the moment he sees that picture. He seriously believes He Tian is in danger, and, consequently, he believes that he, himself, is in danger of losing He Tian. These two chapters have been so awesome because they show what Momo really feels about He Tian. And also they let us have a glimpse of his amazing kind heart.

Regardless of how much of a bad boy he wants everyone around to think he is, our dear Momo has a heart of gold. Just noticing his stained jacket made into a pillow to put under He Tian’s head is proof enough. Also, he clearly feels guilty for making that ‘dog shit’ He Tian faint and gets busy by wiping the floor.

Momo may still be in a dark place, trying hard to hide his vulnerabilities. But, when you care about someone, you are vulnerable, because this is how things are, and how love works. I hope that he will walk into the light, with He Tian’s help. And then he will be happy.

... and appreciate this. Really, I think He Cheng would be such a perfect dad ... This part damaged me beyond repair. And that devil onesie for He Tian ... way too cute!

I know what I want for Christmas (yeah, I know it’s a million months away) - daddy He Cheng under the tree!
