I get that some of you may be mad. It makes sense. I get it.

The question I will get obviously is why?

Here is the answer.

1.) Cost. It costs alot of money for a 4GB server. The ads only paid for a quarter of it. The rest was coming out of MY pocket. NOT my parent’s. Again.. I put MY money, not my parents.

2.) School. As I am venturing through high-school, things become tougher and tougher. The amount of time I put into RPRISON had a negative effect on my grades.

3.) Plugin development. I will be developing plugins.

4.) People. Although this has been more successful than my friend’s previous attempts at a server, it is still not what other servers have gotten to in months.

5.) Friends. My friends who help me staff the server (voltar and mrbirthdaygift) weren’t helping. I don’t blame them. Staff is boring.

6.) Other servers. There are plenty of other servers out there that are much better. The prison server I will be playing on is play.orbitalprison.com - I think it’s great. The only thing they don’t have is heaven stones and sets of armor.

7.) Lack of motivation. This one is self-explanatory.

This week, I have been accused of, multiple times, well, the same thing that all freelancers of my age who generally do work for the youtube community are.

“WHY ARE YOU ALL ABOUT THE MONEY ROB!”

“We are looking for passionate people, who will do work for us for free”

“I WILL PROMOTE YOU ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL”

If you think this is 100% directed at you, or somebody you know, you’re wrong. Believe me, I get so many of these stupid requests.

It usually starts out with them buttering me up (note that I am not directly quoting anybody). “Hey Rob, I just came across your youtube channel, and I fell in love with your work”. Aww, sounds nice. “I’d like to order something”, okay, then just go to lasixfive.net, and click “contact”.

“BUT WAIT I HAVE TO PAY MONEY WHAT! O_O!”

Yes, I am not your slave. I don’t do work for you for free, with no compensation other than a few inactive subs from one shoutout video you made that got 20 views. Its called ‘capitalism’ something that got us all out of dirt holes, and made the current life expectancy 80, no matter how many people deny it.

A few other points:

-The software I use costs money. A few people have told me that I should just pirate the programs, but that’s stupid. Pirating is for morons. I’ll expand on that. First, there are a few free/cheap alternatives to photoshop, and some cheap ones to after effects. And if you’re willing to pirate, without your conscience saying ‘hey, that’s kinda wrong’.. you have no idea. As somebody who knows how to code HTML, some javascript, and a unique language called skript, you have NO IDEA HOW HARD IT WOULD BE TO CODE  A PROGRAM LIKE AFTER EFFECTS, PHOTOSHOP, OR CINEMA 4D. YOU HAVE NO IDEA. Lastly, is a metaphor-ish thing I like to use. Just because you can’t afford a Ferrari, does that mean you should steal one? Just because you probably won’t get caught stealing a program like photoshop, doesn’t mean that you should.

Note: I have friends who pirate, and I disagree with them, but that obviously that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. I have friends that have completely different political views than me as well.

-Making this stuff takes time. Do you think I whip this stuff up in 5 minutes? I don’t just press a button, and whip up a intro in 5 seconds. And even if the actual process takes an hour, it takes a while to come up with ideas for things, colors that match, using the right plugins, etc - especially if somebody says ‘make me an intro pls’.

-Who do you think you are? If you can go downtown to a restaurant, and ask for a meal worth 11$, and say you want it for free, will they give it to you?

Welp. Time for another rant.

I've come across another one of those lame c4d intros. They're all the same. The minecraft skin shows up, does some dance, then some 3d text synced to the sound does some movement which is sometimes synced to the audio.

I get this question alot. Countless people have contaced me on skype and asked 'hey can I have free graphics and my channel has 500 subscribers' or something like that. I always say no.

Why?

It's not fair to give some people free work (especially if they're not my friend)

If you're asking for something for free, you're most likely trying to take advantage of me.

The software I use to make gfx and motion cost money. I didn't pirate them like others have. (HEY, IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, EVEN IF SOMETHING YOU STOLE IS DIGITAL, AND DIDN'T REQUIRE MUCH EFFORT, IT'S STILL STEALING)

Most of the money that I make goes back into lasixfive.net, & sprucemc. The rest goes into spotify premium and tunnelbear, and a few random purchases here and there

Paid work will produce better results than free work will. Welcome to capitalism.

If I did free work, I would be flooded by requests.

There are not too many articles out there that simply list out ways to do these things, so here you go.

Privacy:

Ditch Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, use Safari or Firefox. If you love Chrome, do what I do and don't sign in with your google account.

Get a VPN, my favorite being TunnelBear. VPNs hide your IP address, and encrypt your internet traffic, so your internet provider or somebody snooping on your WiFi can't read it.

Set your browser settings so that they delete history/website data after a day or so.

Make sure to get a free browser extension that blocks tracking companies such as Ghostery or Disconnect.

Don't use Gmail or any other 'free' provider if you can. Buy your own domain/server. lasixfive.net and all the @lasixfive.net email addresses are hosted on Mediatemple. Obviously this is impractical for some people.

For nerds like me, set up PGP encryption using my favorite e-mail client, Thunderbird.

Use a antivirus program like Avast,

And lastly, as funny as it sounds, use DuckDuckGo rather than google.

Security:

Use SSL encryption by default. If you don't know what that is:

https is SSL encryption, which helps prevents snoopers from snooping and keeps your data safe (say, you were browsing amazon.com and purchasing some stuff.)

Get an antivirus. Again, I recommend Avast.

Setup anti-spam on your email. Alot of clients, such as Thunderbird, Apple mail, Gmail, Outlook, already have these built-in.

Follow the tips under privacy, a lot of that applies to security too.

Al ot of security has to do with your own habits. Use common sense.

If you own a website, get CloudFlare

Well that about wraps up what I know about privacy and security, if you have any tips, feel free to leave them below.

I'm not a huge fan of all this transparency stuff on the new mac operating system.

To turn transparency off, click the  Symbol (top left corner), click system settings, then accessibility, then hit the checkmark "Reduce transparency"
