Well, yeah I care if I get hurt. I’m an abuse survivor too, and nobody likes being re-exposed to reminders or even trauma triggers about their abuse. The part in your post I mentioned was me referring to a anti-shaladin post that was something that my abuser said to me that had me in a state of flight-or-fight and paranoia. 

Tumblr sure is part of real life. You know what else tumblr does? Allows not safe for work content. Which is why my discourse blog is kept safe for work, and I have a NSFW flagged sideblog for my NSFW content, and why I tag all my posts with mentions of abuse with trigger warning.

Like, y’all can’t come onto a site that permits NSFW content (when there’s a lot of fandom sites out there, you can even make your own, that do not permit NSFW content) and then complain when you see NSFW content but then not take any steps yourself to avoid it?

It’s not romanticizing abuse that’s the issue. It’s people, usually young people, who don’t understand the gap between ‘something I’m reading about or writing about or drawing’ and ‘something I condone and would do,’ and start attacking people over it? 

it’s not about “if X idea is included/explored in fiction, this author is more likely to act on it” that's not what anyone is saying. but it’s important to be critical of how that idea is portrayed. take jaws: everyone knows it’s a fucking movie, but because sharks were portrayed as man-eating evil monsters, people in real life began to see sharks as man-eating evil monsters, and that movie had a devastating effect on real sharks (you can google it, there’s plenty of evidence).

it’s the same for literally any fictional content. when twilight portrayed the stalkery relationship between edward and bella and her unhealthy dependence on and obsession with him as romantic, guess what? teenage girls all over believed it! a lot of people didn’t see a problem with that behavior! and that’s dangerous because when people enter relationships with similar dynamics to the ones that they read about, they won’t recognize it as unhealthy becuase they were told over and over again that there’s nothing wrong with it!

so when people portray child-adult relationships, incestuous relationships, or any abusive dynamics as cute/fluffy/desirable/healthy/romantic/etc. guess what happens? it affects people’s perspectives. especially when you’re in a fandom full of kids. it’s really not hard to be critical of the content you consume, it’s literally the easiest thing in the world, but people like you would rather spend time defending the right for this content to exist. who does that help?? yourself? right, we know.

Did you know that romanticizing abusive dynamics happens across a broad range of fiction? Did you know that the definition of normalization is literally making things normal, and that domestic abuse, the abuse of children, and abuse in general is not normalized in first world cultures except by deviant individuals who have something fundamentally wrong with them? 

Did you know that shipping fictional characters, so long as it is properly marked if it’s NSFW, is not comparable to actual real life pedophila? I swear to god, there are real blogs with actual children on them in sexual situations and if all the antis on tumblr teamed up to take them down tumblr would actually be free of pedophilia. But no, we have to attack people for pedophilia with PEOPLE WHO NEVER EXISTED.

If internet actions have consequences, you antis better own up too. I saw an anti post today that was literally something my abuser said to me when I was being gaslit. I’ve seen antis telling people to die, choke, be hurt.I’ve seen a anon ask decrying one of my friends for shipping shaladin by calling them the n slur. Calling  someone a nasty racial slur. 

and yes we are dealing with fiction, that doesn’t mean ideas in fiction are completely separate from real life. if a racist character exists and fandom attempts to defend that character or justify their actions, that works to normalize racism and is wrong. it’s the same for literally any idea that can exist in fiction. abusive dynamics are real and the tons of shippers who defend abuse, ignore it, or even go as far as trying to justify abusive relationships in real life just for the sake of a ship are disgusting.

and lol every anti who’s against pedophilic ships ARE against real cp/pedophilic content/people on this site, why would you think we aren’t.

 So yeah, I do think that only someone who has something wrong with them would want beating their wife or abusing their child to be legal and condoned by society and thus be normalized in the accurate definition of the word.

I’m white so I can only speak on the topic of racism from a priveliged perspective, so if any of my followers who could more accurately discuss this wants to chime in feel free. But I don’t see people in fandom glorifying racism? All of the people whom I know wouldn’t do that and also are capable of distingushing fiction from reality Also who is justifying real life abuse? I’ve never seen someone do that either. 

I never said you antis aren’t against child pornography and pedophilic content and people. I would assume you and yours are against that, that’s kinda your whole M.O. regardless of how misguided your efforts are. I was saying if you shifted your focus from harrassing people who ship to actually reporting pedophilic content you’d be making a real difference. Nice try though. 

also, you’re white. if you don’t see glorification/dismissal/perpetuation of racism in fandoms, you’re not looking hard enough.

and I can tell you're missing a lot of the arguments shippers make because the main arguments being used, which antis have to deal with time and time again, are 1) it’s just fiction so it doesn’t matter (which is not true) 2) it’s not my responsibility if others get hurt (which is dangerous) and 3) there’s nothing wrong with these relationships at all! (e.g. shippers trying to use age of consent laws to justify child-adult relationships which is a super disgusting tactic that conflates legality with morality; shippers trying to convince people and esp kids that a teenager can date a grown adult and there’s nothing wrong with that, which is also disgusting, etc. etc.)

these arguments are literal proof that abuse is normalized. no one should be looking at two siblings or a child and an adult or a woman and her abuser and thinking “hey that relationship is nice/healthy!” that means people are desensitized to abuse, i.e. it’s fucking normalized! clearly you haven’t been seeing what the majority of shippers say to justify their fictional ship, so please stop using the argument ‘i’ve never seen this’ because it is happening.

and the thing about reporting pedophilic content.......we DO. there’s this thing called multitasking and just because we’re focused on one issue doesn’t mean we can’t handle others at the same time.

also the point of my op was to address people’s arguments that fandom isn’t a safe space, and therefore no one has to be worried about or at least be critical of actions in these spaces that could harm others. THAT’S what I was talking about and that’s a dangerous and selfish mindset. meanwhile you came here only to conflate extreme aggressions with antis entire cause as if that somehow contradicts my post. it doesn’t, you just missed the point while also proving the point of my post. i was never talking just about nsfw content, nsfw content isn’t inherently harmful and doesn’t perpetuate dangerous ideas on its own. but romanticizing abuse does! and shippers have to be aware of that.
