So, now we've seen the new casual outfits for the characters in the new dissidia, I am (unsurprisingly) thinking about one thing: what might Ardyn's casual outfit look like? How could they make the fashion disaster (affectionate) that is that man "blend in"?
Or will the villains not even try and their alternate outfits will be just as ridiculous as their normal clothes? Even then, I look forward to seeing what they do XD

imagine: you're a minimum wage mail carrier. you have to deliver a letter to some guy's house WAY out in the middle of nowhere. the letter tells him he was elected president. the guy didn't know he was running for president. a month later you're secretary of state and directly advising the president on nuclear policy.

You're correct, this is a crucial factor. The guy is nicer to you and all the other staff than ANY of the senators or congresspeople think he as any right to be. Also from the day he gets sworn in as president, he's dead set on building high speed rail, to the point where the auto lobby tries to kill him over it

"Your son will take your throne from you," they prophesized, spitting each word out of teeth clenched tight with hatred. Why they'd bother prophesizing such an event befuddles you; your son is literally your chosen heir, after all.
Years later, you realize what the prophets meant. For most of your life your son was your pride and joy; an academic, who would surely lead the kingdom into greater health and wellness. Until he committed the ultimate act of betrayal.
"You will not take my throne from me!" You cling to your grand chair so hard your knuckles turn white.
Your son sighs. "Dad. Dad it's lead-"
"Of course it's lead! It's a strong metal, signifying the strength of our country- this throne has been passed down the royal line for 300 years, 15 rulers before me-"
"That is not enough time for that many people!" Your son throws his hands up in the air. "Because it is lead! It is poisoning you! Didn't you wonder why grandpa died at 40?"
"Ah, pfoo! That's the ancestral curse."
"It's the throne! The throne is the ancestral curse!!!"
the son successfully convinces his father to give up the lead throne. he lives and rules peacefully for much longer than his family’s previous generations, dying in his third score.
the son, upon coronation, receives his own prophecy: “your daughter will tear your castle to the ground.”
now, this is a bit more of a cause for immediate concern, but unlike kings of old, he decides that the best way to avoid this surely gruesome future is to love his daughter the best he can, encourage her interests, and guide her with a steady hand - if she is to ruin his kingdom, after all, then let it be with iron will and care for the people.
his daughter is not violent at all, will only hunt if they promise the kitchens will cook what is killed and will give some to the people, and only takes a passing fancy in swordsmanship (which he thinks is more to do with the jawline of the instructor, not that he says anything). she loves to study and read, and when she asks to go for further education in a different corner of the kingdom, he allows it.
after one year, she returns, and spends the first week back acting shifty. she is always caught ducking out of corners and hidden passages, whispering with staff, and pouring over old maps of the castle layout in the library, hurriedly covering them up when anyone passes.
he privately gets his affairs in order.
two weeks after her return, the king’s daughter approaches her father with a steely look in her eye and a grim set to her jaw.
“father,” she begins, “what do you know of asbestos?”
“Unless you fell me first.”
this post jumped out at me because of the banger character designs and then i find out it's from elden ring nightreign, a game that is both too expensive to justify purchasing and probably not something I would have fun with

I found this quote from Diana Wynne Jones (Author of novels Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Air) on her time at Oxford when she had C.S. Lewis and Tolkien as professors and I thought I couldn't relate to Jrrt any more than I already did but I've been proven wrong.
"[C. S. Lewis] was just a marvelous lecturer: he made the dullest topics absolutely shine. He lectured in the very largest of lecture halls, which was a huge “L” shape, and it was packed, with people standing in the aisles, even early in the morning. Everybody drank it in. Obviously a whole lot of people took this away and thought about it, and began writing - mostly for children because in those days you couldn’t write fantasy for anyone else. Tolkien was a different matter. He was just a kind of eminence grise and a legend. You couldn’t hear him lecture. He worked at not letting you hear, because he wanted to go away and finish writing The Lord of the Rings. So he had the very smallest lecture room. First of all it was packed out, so he spoke with his back to the audience and mumbling. Unfortunately he was talking about - meditating on, really - what a plot is like and how it mutates into other plots, and this I found so fascinating that I went back the next week as did one other person. And this meant that he couldn’t stop lecturing and still get the money, which apparently in those days you could if no one turned up - it was a dreadful racket, really. He could have given just the one lecture and then been paid for a term if we’d all stayed away. But this other person and I attended diligently week after week, so he was forced to go on meditating about plots mutating, and what I could hear was fascinating, because he was busy with the really large orchestration of the latter part of The Lord of the Rings at the time. But all I retain is a sense of how marvelous the way plots work is. That was all I got out of it, but I kept going in case I might understand a bit more next week - let alone hear a bit more."

I remember referring to this interview a long time ago, before the Howl renaissance, citing it while saying something like “don’t beat yourself up too much by comparing the development of your writing skills to Tolkien, because among OTHER writing aids he had (nannies, servants, a fulltime housewife, a private cook) he VERY MUCH slacked off his (prestigious, privileged, came with a private office/free lunch/servants, well paid, consisted of being left respectfully alone to be a genius) day job to write his fiction.” And someone sent me a bunch of very upset messages about how none of that was true, and when I was like, here are his letters about his servants and nannies, here is what Dianne Actual Wynne Jones wrote when she was his actual student, here is the labor context of Oxford; they said “who cares about how an obscure nobody had failed her classes.”
It was only a dumb exchange but it stuck with me, DWJ the obscure nobody. As a kid I remembered when Harry Potter came out and everyone was like “well, bookish child, don’t you love it?” And I would reply that for British boarding school fantasies about witches you couldn’t do better than Witch Week, and would receive the same reaction. “Who do you mean and why are you bothering?”
So thank you for all being so interested in the obscure nobody. I perennially love the image of her making Tolkien do his damn day job

Hey everyone!! I just wanted to say thank you so much for 17k+ notes. This is the farthest my art has ever reached, and out of all my pieces, I’m so glad it could have been this one. It’s been so so so nice to read the tags and find it connecting with so many other people, and it’s been so so so nice to see other trans Chinese people finding the comic?
