I am absolutely 💯 excited to see the return and reunion of all of our original cast members like The Defenders and Elektra—as well as the teasing of maybe a cameo or side story with Moon Knight. All the behind the scenes look incredible.

However this also makes me anxious about how little story or screen time we will actually get to have for Daredevil/Matt Murdock himself, because the more people they’re adding to S3 the more I fear over saturation.

To quote myself (at least 30 times) while watching DD:BA

WHERE. THE FUCK. WAS MAYA LOPEZ??!!!

You're telling me that Echo and Daredevil share the same villain, and yet they've only met once??

Last we checked with Maya, she was heading back to NY shortly before Fisk decided to run for mayor, WHERE WAS SHE??

Imagine the dynamic between them?? Matt who refuses to kill Fisk no matter what, and Maya who has already tried to kill him multiple times and take down his organization.

Matt and Maya who both lost their fathers.

Matt and Maya who are both so ambitious and at times self centered to the point of hurting those around them.

Matt's relationship to religion vs Maya's relationship to spirituality.

Matt fighting for justice vs Maya fighting for vengeance (Matt then realizing that he in some part is also fighting for vengeance)

It cuts me up how little I care. Just not a comic fan, can’t help it. I was a TV fan. They lost me. Not here for people in funny outfits pretending to fight other people in funny outfits. This fandom survived on dialogue from priests, nuns, and between friends in a law office for a decade. Name a quote from Born Again. One thing you’ll remember that cut you deep, moved you, or that will stay with you. I think “I’m Daredevil” is it, but it was so rushed and unsupported by buildup that it’s like they released it in a teaser, out of context.

Sorry to be a downer…but this marketing killed this show worse than the half-finished writing and eliminating Matt, Foggy and Karen from Daredevil. I was pumped for Jessica from the pics released and her lines were 90% childbirth, being a mother, reminding us she has a kid, and oh yeah, motherhood makes you weak. My expectations were not high, but it turned out I needed a shovel to lower them even further. And now it’s nakedly just… “Here ya go, comic people, we have made hot people exercise a lot to wear the funny outfits you like so much. Tune in to see if the cinematographer will let you spot them on screen through the glare! Keep an eye out!”

All the Marvel Netflix shows had a downward trend in viewership after Daredevil S1 except a spike for The Punisher. I LOVED all those shows and that story (to say the least), but looking at that graph was so obvious to me. They broke up Nelson, Murdock and Page and lost the audience. It’s that simple.

It was really cool that they were forced to actually write something I cared about back in the day. Wish they would have written and finished complete episodes for this. My family was so bored during the finale that we paused it multiple times to chat about other things. (PS If you apply some basic percentages the awesome genius KM Weiland figured out for basic story outlines to DD as one series of 78 eps, the finale was THE finale of the whole story. The climax. Karen vs. Fisk was the climax of the OG series alone). If I made my family all come over and watch Daredevil right now, for the millionth time each, 4 episodes would pass and we’d all try to reluctantly unstick our creaking bodies from the couch just because four hours is a lot, not because we were bored. If someone needed to pause, we’d all moan, “Oh no, come on,” and burst into conversation about something brilliant and awesome in the show. “I never noticed this or that, I loved the part where, this always meant so much to me, it’s so cool how this tied to that, I’m not crying, you’re crying,” blah blah blah.

That made me think of these three sharing EVERYTHING. I feel like they've been through so much together, that sharing would be their way of coping with it. They're all traumatised about being betrayed, seeing people and almost dying themselves.

Sharing would be a way of knowing that they can always trust each other no matter what. They found their people, even if Matt sometimes tries to push them away and do his emo bullshit on his own, Karen and Foggy will always remind him that he's theirs and that they'll never allow him to run away from them.

Starting by drinking from his glass. Invading his apartment. Sleeping in his bed. Perhaps even taking his clothes, his fault for having such comfortable sweatpants.

Matt will obviously give it right back to them. Sharing his secrets, asking for help... Making his drink to Karen/foggy's taste knowing they'll drink it more than him anyway, using the detergent Karen likes because it's the one that smells the best anyway.

Thread fishing line through needle and attach to carapace where the leg should go

Cut leggie in half, thread through needle to thread in carapace. Leggie can stay whole, but then your puppet has a bit less movement. My Things, Rocky and Prism puppets have all 5 movable limbs. Puppet Big(Small) Steppa has only two movable limbs, cause they're canonically a bit more stiff

Do the leggie thing four more times (boring).

Put a rod in each of the front legs. A glue gun may help with this.

Now that Elektra’s back its abouta be hell on Earth in the DD fandom 😭

I was lwk shocked by how bad it got in DDBA S2, and it's only downhill from here. Which sucks bc half the hype around Elektra's return is tied to Matt. Honestly, it would be so cheap to have Matt switch up on Karen like he did in S2, since their relationship is so different now. And it's like, so why did we even develop their relationship so much if they weren't gonna be the end result? That’s precious screentime that could've been utilized for other things in the plot.

Honestly bringing back a character who died twice already is kinda cheap but I see why they would. No body found and all that. Plus it’s Elektra so I'm not complaining. But genuinely why NOW? What has she been doing over the past decade? And how has she changed? I mean she can't be the same frivolous adrenaline-chaser from the OG, well she can, but dying twice has to change smth in you and she's much older now.

If we’re doing the Elektra becomes Daredevil or her own figure while Matt’s in jail I love that idea, but other than that idk what the showrunners will do with her. She's not connected with the Hand anymore, right? After all the shit they did to her, but Ofc who the heck knows atp. It just sucks that Elektra’s return is just ship fuel. DDBA is never passing the bechdeal test I'm afraid, I kinda had the same problem with S2, like Elektra never existed without Matt—love them both but Elektra never had a scene without Matt, talking abt Matt, or doing smth related to Matt. (Even if their scenes were really good)

And I would be afraid of this happening in DDBA S3 but I doubt we’ll have the time with all the characters coming in and the 8 episodes they'll have to share.

I'm not sure how good DDBA S3 will be with all these components, let alone how little we’re gonna see of Matt in his own show. But idk I always hold out hope, and ideally all my worries will be stupid in the long run bc I am really excited to see everyone come back. 🫶

As always this is just my opinion, and I do want to hear discourse abt this so I can see other perspectives unrelated to shipping. BUT ANYWAYS, Elektra is back, anything is possible:

Jack Murdock drops his son off at college, from the Daredevil "negative one" retrospective issue. This is the only time we see this specific event from Matt's early life on panel, and I love that the issue emphasizes what a massive shift this is for both of them—for Jack, who has always been over-protective, now seeing his son go off and do something he's never done himself; and for Matt, who is eager to prove himself and assert his independence but, nevertheless, is in whole new world and comes to realize just how much he's going to miss his dad.
