I need to talk about Adam Parrish.

Ok so Maggie S posted the one Adam POV chapter that she wrote for MI and then scrapped on Reddit and I am actually obsessed with it; like I read it and it just keeps going round and round in my head. 

it’s a little frustrating to me that Adam still needs to hide himself. I thought at the end of TRK, he’d come to terms with who he was, where he came from, his own worth, but as soon as he went out of Virginia, he had to make himself an entire persona. I’m kind of glad he’s not really getting close to ppl who aren’t you know, Gansey and Blue and Ronan, but at the same time, I feel like this is a regression for him?

I’m stuck because I love it, I do. I love that he’s closed off, I think it makes his real friendships a lot more special. But again, why is he doing this? Why can’t he be vulnerable? Why is he at a place where he cannot be himself?

He lied to his friends about Ronan; he said they broke up when they didn’t. I mean it makes sense, wanting to keep your personal and magical life secret. But seriously, how is he so unhappy with himself? It might be my own bias, but Adam seems unhappy. Mechanically pursuing his original dreams when they don’t really bring him any joy.

i can’t seem to stop coming up with ideas for aftg playlists, so i thought i’d post them on here & update as i make more. (i can’t be the only one who gets to enjoy these materpieces)

1. andrew’s lot: imagine you’re one of the foxes and you’re waiting for practice to start, but kevin, neil, andrew, aaron, & nicky aren’t there yet. you’re frustrated and annoyed but you hear obnoxiously loud music approaching the locker room from the parking lot outside. basically, imagine the shit that andrew blasts in the maserati just to get a reaction out of kevin and aaron. that’s the playlist. [shuffle for best results]

2. bird set free: jean moreau. that’s it, it’s just jean moreau’s journey from the ravens to the trojans in a playlist. [best to listen in order]

3. andrew minyard: pretty self-explanatory, but it’s a chronological playlist of andrew’s life from his childhood to his time at the spear’s house, to juvie, meeting nicky & aaron, attending psu, meeting neil, thanksgiving, easthaven, and all the way to the domestic ending he gets featuring a boyfriend and two cats. [100% listen in order]

1. palmetto state foxes: ten songs. one for each character in order of the foxes lineup. brilliant.

2. kevin day’s ipod: yeah, kevin listens to avril lavigne on his walks between classes and queen while working out. trust me, she knows.

3. aaron minyard: aaron is one of her biggest comfort characters, so obviously she had to make him a flawless playlist. pls listen to this in order because it goes so smoothly from his childhood to meeting andrew to meeting katelyn to thanksgiving and everything. probably her best aftg playlist so far.

can you imagine how it felt hearing this for andrew, who has always been the one protecting people and has been called a monster countless times for being so unforgiving and ruthless when it comes to protecting his family?

andrew has never had anyone in his corner, he spent his entire life feeling completely and utterly alone. he is fine if his brother and his cousin hate him as long as they are safe. HE is the one who protects people not the other way around. and suddenly there is this menace of a boy, fiery temper and piercing blue eyes, who not only doesn't treat andrew like a monster but goes to great length to keep him safe, even if it means getting himself hurt.

the only person who has come close to understanding andrew is renee but she doesn't fully understand him, you know? and then this runaway boy comes into his life and can somehow basically read his soul and tells him shit like "I think it's better this way, with you as the last line of defense. you let us run ourselves into the ground and clean up behind us. you play the game like you play life. that's why you're so good at it." and andrew is supposed to believe that this guy is real?
