Fan art for Oedipus Rex (1957)
I’m in a theatrical mood
the assassination of julius caesar
illustrations from various manuscripts (13th - 15th c.) of der welsche gast by thomasîn von zerclaere [for detailed records see welscher gast digital]
just doing some research,,,
ya know, no reason in particular why im looking at this specific thing, nothing i could really put my finger on,,,, its just interesting is all.
Okay but some of these are actually really pretty -
NOTE all of these date at least a little after Caesar's death so not 100% accurate. but ya know. and also maybe not the best selection for stabbing. we do what we can with what we have.
also note 3 + 4 might not be knife handles, but could be key handles. but they're prettyy so im keeping them in
references under cut in case you're interested!! (All sourced via jstor, thank you jstor my beloved. All pieces are in the MET's collection.)
If anyone else finds pretty roman knives, please send em through i'd love to see them!
Happy ides everyone

I don't have as much practice painting human characters, but this was a lot of fun to figure out.

[1080x843] Limestone fragment, Egypt late 6th century. The first sentence of the Iliad was written four times: “μῆνιν ἄειδε θεὰ Πηληϊάδεω Ἀχιλῆος”. Probably, it was made by a student who practiced writing in ancient Greek.

Selene, Moon Incarnate 🌙
I had so much fun playing Hades II recently, I needed to make more fanarts. ✨ I got inspired by Inkwell's latest video tutorial, “Animation with No Experience.” It took me way more time than I expected because I, indeed, have no animation experience, but I decided I had to animate Selene’s hair anyway. I’m very happy with how it turned out tho !
