ok but like for real if i showed you these two games
and told you that in one of them you find out that all your favorite characters were once best friends with you and each other when you were a kid but your horrible depression and yearning for knowledge and friendship got so bad it physically manifested itself, turned everything black and overgrown, and started systematically wiping the memories of everyone who lived in your kingdom, including you, sending most of them back off to their worlds as if nothing ever happened but they still have these echoes of memories in the back of their minds burning, asking them what is missing, why do i feel like something is missing, and the characters who got to stay in the kingdom slowly got trapped by thorns and darkness to the point where they couldn’t leave their homes, forgetting the faces and names of their friends and struggling to hold onto something, anything to remember them by, finding themselves failing over and over again, some of them getting trapped in an endless, terrifying void they can’t escape from…

From that point onwards, new releases will only be available in digital versions from the PlayStation Store and other retailers. Games released before January 2028 will still be available on disc.
They cite "consumer preference" as the reason, but we all know what's going on. If there's no physical media, you don't really own your game. You're only renting it.
From the way this is worded I think future Playstation consoles will continue to have optical drives, at least as an option.
