I want to talk about the harm caused by trying to police AI in creative communities, because things are getting really toxic. For the record, I dislike generative AI too. I think it’s built on theft and goes against the point of human expression. But turning online spaces into places where everyone is watched just to catch 'AI users' is hurting marginalized creators. Before you accuse someone based on a gut feeling or an unreliable detector, remember this: What people call AI 'tells' often look a lot like standard ESL writing. Non-native English speakers usually use structured, precise grammar or stick to common transitions because that’s how they learn the language. Accusing someone of using AI just because their writing sounds 'too clean' or 'formulaic' is often just xenophobia. This also hurts neurodivergent or hyper-focused writers. Many writers on the spectrum have their own structured styles, or they can write a lot in a short time. Calling high productivity or a different writing style 'robotic' pushes away the very people who make fan spaces interesting.
The 'witch hunt' mindset does real damage. A community can handle a few cases of bad, AI-generated text getting through. What it can’t handle is a place where creators are too scared to post because a few loud voices are ready to attack them over a simple sentence.
AI models are trained on very structured, perfect grammar. So when a real person uses precise words, common transitions like 'Furthermore' or 'It is important to note,' or textbook grammar, detectors often say it’s AI. There’s a real ESL bias: studies show non-native English speakers get falsely accused much more often. Because ESL writers use standard words and sentence structures, detectors often flag their real work as robotic. One Stanford study found that 61% of essays written by international students were wrongly flagged as AI by at least one detector.
I want to end with one last message: stop trying to act like a digital cop. If you don’t like something, just move on. Unless someone openly says they used Gen AI, forcing people to defend themselves in public is ruining the spaces we’re trying to protect.

No idea why this isn't being promoted more often throughout the RPC but just a quick reminder that if you get fed up with the pushed RP Meme results in the "rp meme" tag and can't find anything satisfying or anything that you remember having floated around for years before it got buried ever since 2020, just add year:[year of your desire] behind your search into the search bar.
Example:
rp meme year:2012 <- takes you immediately to all the rp meme results from 2012. This is how I find pretty much anything I'm looking for. Hope this helps some people.
HOW TO MAKE GIFS ON PHOTOSHOP: A TUTORIAL BY GIFSBYHARLEY
DISCLAIMER: before we get started, i want to let it be known that there are several different ways that you can make a gif. this is just the way that i do it and was taught how to do it, and the way i've been doing it for the past 15 years or so. i also have a windows computer which means i do not have the quicktime player like a mac does, so this won't work if you have a mac computer.
so let's get started!
first things first, you will need:
any version of photoshop will do (i use CS5 because i'm an old school btch and haven't used any other version besides this one so this is what i'm comfortable with)
KM player
basic photoshop knowledge
basic tumblr knowledge
STEP ONE:
once you have KM player installed, download your video of choice, then open up KM player. NOTE: again, KM player is only available to download through windows, so this will not work if you own a mac computer. Once KM player is open, your screen should look like this:
STEP TWO:
open up the video that you just downloaded by clicking on the KM player symbol in the top left corner, and select "open file." you can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + O.
select the video that you chose to download, and it should automatically start playing in the window.
STEP THREE:
go through the video to find the scene that you want to gif. click on the pause button, then hit CTRL + G on your keyboard. this window should now pop up:
you're gonna want your settings to look EXACTLY what it looks like in the pop-up window. here's a better picture:
STEP FOUR:
once your settings look like that, click on the "start" button. KM player has now started the recording process. now, you want to hit the "play" button and let KM player capture the scene that you chose. once you have your desired scene, hit the "pause" button, then do CTRL + G again to bring that pop-up window back up. hit the "stop" button and then close out of the window.
STEP FIVE:
now, you want to go to your (C:) drive to see where KM player saved the screencaptures. you can find this by opening up the file explorer and going to "this PC."
once there, go to your KM player folder.
now go to your capture folder.
you can now see where your screencaptures were saved.
STEP SIX:
now, go into photoshop. go to your "window" tab and select "animation."
your screen should now look like this:
now it's finally time to make the gif! next, you want to go to file > scripts > load multiple DICOM files. you can also use the "load files into stack" option, however, i've found that the DICOM method is so much more quick.
this window should then pop up on your screen:
next, scroll down to your (C:) drive again, hit the arrow until you reach your capture folder again. then, hit "OK" to start loading the screencaptures into photoshop!
STEP SEVEN:
once your screencaptures have been loaded into photoshop, your screen should look like this:
next, you want to go into the "animation" tab and click on the little drop-down menu in the right hand corner. i have it highlighted in red.
go to "make frames from layers."
your screen should now look like this. you can see that photoshop has now made the frames in the animtation tab.
STEP EIGHT:
next, we will be resizing and cropping the gif. you can choose whatever dimensions you want, but since this is tumblr, i am going to go with their allotted dimensions. to change the size of your gif, hit ALT + CTRL + I and then, this window should pop up:
i'm going to choose dimensions of 268x151 since that is the typical dimensions gif creators use. as you can now see, our gif is much smaller than before.
STEP NINE:
next, you want to change the speed of your gif. depending on the amount of frames you have, i'd suggest if you have anything above 40 frames, change the speed to 0.05. if you have under 40, change the speed to anywhere between 0.06-0.07. since i have 58 frames, i will be changing the speed to 0.05. to do this, go back into your animation tab > drop down menu > select all frames:
now all of your frames should be selected.
next, click on the tiny, little arrow on any of the frames in the animation tab and then hit "other." i have it highlighted in red.
this window should now pop up. when choosing the speed, again, it all depends on how many frames you have. since i have 58 frames, i'm gonna set the speed to 0.05.
STEP TEN:
now it's time to sharpen our gif! i'm not going to explain this step in detail because there are a ton of gif sharpen actions that can help you breeze through the process of making gifs. i can't remember which one i use, however, you can find some in the tag by searching "gif sharpen action" that can help you!
so, now you're basically done if you don't want to add a PSD or coloring. but i will show you some before and afters, so you can get an idea of what your gif will look like. if you have any questions or concerns at all, don't hesitate to reach out! like/reblog if this tutorial helped you at all. <3
