âLook, hereâs a nice one,â Yedam said, sending you a link to another apartment, âI know we said house but maybe we should just look at apartments for now.â
âWe live in an apartment now,â you chuckled, applying your lipbalm as you turned to look at your husband, âI donât mind living with your parents, Yedam, how many times do I have to say it?â
Yedam sighed, âbut I donât. I want to buy you two a house.â
Shrugging, you chuckled slightly as you rubbed your baby bump, âI know, Damie, but theyâre gonna come any day now, we may as well wait.â
âWell, Iâm still gonna keep looking,â he said, dismissively.
Beginning to go towards your shared bed, you stopped, a pain coming from your lower abdomen, making you gasp out.
âAre you alright?â Yedam asked, concern covering his face, âY/N?â
You moaned, âyep. Braxton hicks, Iâm sure.â
Yedam frowned, âyou donât sound it.â
You shook your head, âdonât worry.â
As the pain passed, you waddled over to your side of the bed, swinging your legs round as you snuggled down.
âStop looking,â you whined, hitting your husbandâs leg, âI want to cuddle.â
Yedam chuckled, stroking your hair with a gentle hand.
Suddenly, another wave of pain hit you.
âOh my god,â you coughed, rounding forward as though someone had just punched your gut.
âIs it the baby?â Yedam asked.
You nodded softly, âthis really hurts, oh my god.â
âY/N, how long have you been having braxton hicks?â
âThey come and go during the third trimester. With the amount of pregnancy books youâve read Iâm surprised you donât knowââ
âNo, I know that!â Yedam scolded with a sigh, âI mean today.â
âAll day,â you sighed, rubbing your stomach, âtheyâve been really active as well.â
âY/N,â Yedam spoke, his voice now shaky.
âDid you not even think that this couldâve been the real thing?!â
Hunching over as another pain rushed through you, you grabbed onto Yedamâs hand, squeezing it as hard as you could, as though it would somehow drain away the pain.
You shook your head, your voice tight as you tried to breath, âIâm in denial.â
âSo you did think about it. Why didnât you tell me?!â he exclaimed.
âOâ Oh myâ Oh my god,â you cursed, Yedam helping you to sit up as you clutched your rounded stomach, âth-this really hurts, Dam.â
Yedam sighed, nodding, âI know, darl, I know. Iâm gonna get my mum, okay?â
Nodding, you groaned, âfucksâ sake!â
âMum!â Yedam called, âwe need you!â
Yedamâs mum, Miyeong, arrived at the door, her eyes widening as she saw your hunched figure.
âIs it braxton hicks?â she asked, rubbing your back soothingly.
You shook your head, sweat beginning to appear.
âW-We think this might be it,â Yedam stuttered.
âIâ Iâm in so much pain.â
Miyeong nodded, stroking your hair, âitâs okay, darling. Do you feel anything else?â
âI feâ feel like I need to push,â you sobbed.
âOkay, well we already planned for a home birth, right? Letâs call your midwife!â Miyeong smiled, âitâs all gonna be okay. Daesik! Call the ambulance!â
âReally?!â your father-in-law exclaimed.
âJust do it! Quickly!â
You chuckled, Yedam climbing back on the bed to hold your hand.
âMiyeong, you should talk to them,â Daesik said, handing the phone to his wife.
âY/N,â Miyeong said carefully after talking to the ambulance reciever, âcan I look... down there?â
You nodded, desperate, âI just want them out!â
âItâs okay, baby,â Yedam whispered, kissing your temple, one of your hands gripping his.
âYes,â Miyeong said, answering the reciever, âo-okay. Y/N, she says youâre just gonna have to push.â
âThe ambulance is not gonna get here in time and I can see the head,â Miyeong said, smiling apologetically.
âI canât do that,â you shook your head.
âSheâs staying on the line, itâs gonna be okay,â Miyeong said, âyou have to do this otherwise itâs gonna be worse for you and the baby.â
âOh my god,â you panted.
âIâm right here, love, itâs okay,â Yedam whispered, kissing your hand.
âWhenever you feel the need to push, do so, okay?â Miyeong said, âDaesik, get some towels!â
âShit!â you screamed, starting your first push.
Push, after push, after push, and finally Miyeong had a bright smile on her face.
âOne more, thatâs all youâre gonna have to do!â she exclaimed, and with one last push, your baby was in the world, âitâs a boy!â
Tears began to fall as Yedam wrapped his arms around you, âyou did it, my love, Iâm so proud of you, our son!â
Miyeong and Daesik smiled, washing down the newborn in the bath heâd prepared before wrapping him in towels.
âHere he is,â Miyeong smiled, handing the baby to you.
âOur son,â you said, choking up on a sob caught in your throat.
âYou did so well,â Yedam smiled, kissing your head, âMum, you did amazing too. Or, should I say Grandma.â
Miyeong grinned, her and Daesik announcing that theyâd leave you alone, just as you heard the ambulance arrive.
âWell that wasnât the plan,â you chuckled, Yedam wiping away your tears before looking down at your son.
Shaking his head, a smile spread across his face, âbut either way, heâs here. Our baby.â
