Jack is a Conn Smythe (playoff MVP) winner in his first season. It’s very likely that when the Falcs, a new organization, name a captain for the first time, it will be Jack. Jack will definitely be involved in at least one ASG during his career and even possibly during Bitty’s senior year. A player like Jack would more than likely be involved in the accuracy competition more than anything else, but years of chasing Bitty has developed his own speed so he’s one of the faster skaters in the league despite his size. So when Jack is first selected to the ASG for the Metropolitan division, he’s asked to compete in the accuracy and speed contests.

The ASG is a super laid-back affair, and during the skills competition players sometimes have their families on the ice, but that’s usually limited to children and not WAGs. Well Jack doesn’t actually have a WAG, and the league doesn’t really know what to call his WAG (although the oft-suggested SOAP acronym fits best), so he has some leeway here. When he asks if Bitty can hang out on the ice with him, no one says no. It’s even possible that he doesn’t ask and just brings Bitty with him, and no one says anything.

Trevor glances at Eric after the conversation and asks, “Who’s that?” 

“Oh, my father in law. He’s in town with his wife and we’re having family dinner tonight.” 

“Cool.” Maybe Trevor is a bit disappointed because this means that Eric is definitely married, and the ring on his left hand definitely means something. 

The next time he’s hanging out with his sports coworkers and Bob walks past, Trevor gives him a smile and a nod and gets a smile back. His coworkers’ eyes all bulge out as they see the living legend walk past them and grabs onto Trevor’s arm.

“Trevor tell me that just happened?”

“That what happened? That’s Eric’s father in law.”

But since Jack isn’t officially out yet, he decides that he’s going to have to play a hard defense.

so of course this changes a lot because bingley and darcy are friends, and bitty and jack are friends. 

bitty’s the heir to a fortune, and he’s always had a crush on jack, but never did anything about it

jack’s the heir to a larger fortune, and he doesnt even know he has a crush on bitty, but he thinks that bitty is too softhearted and falls in love too fast and too easily. 

jack thinks that bitty is too easy to take advantage of, and that’s why jack has to be by his side to check out anyone flirting with him and tell him to go ahead or drop that person

so far jack as convinced bitty to drop many people 

jack: no one is good enough for him

jack: he’s the perfect human being i must find the PERFECT husband for him

jack: that’s why i’m picky and grumpy when he’s courting someone else

Hi. Yes. I just spent all day on these because I needed more @omgcheckplease lockscreens.

I’m not saying that it’s the “right” way to write Kent, nor am I trying to ignore new and different backstories for him. I always like it when fics break away from the norm.

But I just find it fascinating that so many fans decided that Jack might come from wealthy hockey royalty, Kent was going to be someone who had to fight hard to get where he is, that he came from a family without much of anything, yet he was the one to go on to become of one the best players in the world.
