i’ve been into shifting since like this year february and i feel like i wanted to make a whole new blog just for the topic so i can organize stuff i want to post there about my drs etc a lot easier when it doesn’t mix up with the stuff i post on here!!

also the theme there is a lot simpler and i might change it up at some point but i wanted to try something different and the theme i chose brings up memories from my wonyoungism era when i was really in peace with myself haha

when starting to learn about gyaru culture, you might stumble upon people telling you about gyaru lifestyle or sayings like "gal is mind". even though the lifestyle is a necessary part of being gyaru, i see a lot more people just saying that you need to have the right lifestyle rather than actually telling what it is.

the main point of gyaru lifestyle ♡

since gyaru emerged from rebelling against japanese norms and beauty standards, a huge part of gyaru lifestyle is being confident in yourself and having the courage to be boldly yourself. don't worry too much about what other people in the streets or school think about you and be as weird and loud as you want! you only live once after all, right?

gyaru lifestyle practically & activities to do ♡

if you're a kogal, popular activites to do as a gyaru are to go to karaokes and photobooths or just shopping something cute for yourself! also hanging out with your friends in general is something many many gyarus do, and for that you can also try to join a local gyarusa to get to know more gyarus in your area! in some countries there's also occasional gyaru meetings organized, where gyaru's around the area can hang out together and get to meet new people. dancing para para is also an important part of gyaru, and even though it's not neccessary, it's really popular among gyarus around the world and in the 2000s a lot of japanese gyarus who didn't dance para para were even called posers!

many gyarus over the drinking age also like to go to nightclubs and spend time with their friends together there. a specific nightclub named velfarre was really popular among japanese gals around the 2000s. nowadays the club has closed its doors but it has had and still has a lot of influence in the gyaru culture.

what does "gal is mind" mean? ♡

gal is mind is a saying that you will hear a lot when people talk about gyaru. it simply means that gyaru is also a lifestyle and it's important to embrace that aspect of gyaru too, even though when people think about gyaru, the first thing that comes to their mind is usually something related to the outer appearance. gal is mind is also a song by the hiphop sub unit of egg named softboiledegg.

i hope this post might have cleared some things up for someone! remember that you can be a gal even if you don't drink or have many friends or some of the activities talked about on this post aren't the kind you enjoy. there's always something you can do instead of another thing and not everything is for everyone anyway! when you just remember to be confident in yourself and are not afraid of other's judging you or their opinions, you are on the right path!
