Former Stray turned Spacedog

Launched in a space shuttle with one doomed objective; to be the first dog on Mars. However, when the navigation dilates from course, he is left adrift in space- humanity forgets him or lives in guilt thinking they've killed a kind-hearted stray. Miraculously, Rex is saved, by Alien life, who are his companions right up until his death fifteen years later.
