SHE HAD TO LEARN TO HOLD HER TONGUE AND PRETEND TO BE HAPPY JUST TO STAY ALIVE. SHE GOT A BRIEF MOMENT OF HOPE BEFORE SHE WAS MARRIED OFF TO ANOTHER LANNISTER AS A POLITICAL MOVE. SHE ESCAPED KINGS LANDING AND FINALLY GAINED HER FREEDOM BEFORE BEING SOLD OFF TO ANOTHER HOUSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BUTCHERING OF HER FAMILY FOR CLAIM OVER WINTERFELL. SHE WAS RAPED AND BEATEN AND DRAGGED THROUGH THE GUTTER EVERY SINGLE DAY BECAUSE OF HER NAME. SHE THOUGHT HER ENTIRE FAMILY WAS DEAD AND SHE WAS ALONE AND STUCK TO LIVE OUT HER DAYS BEING BRUISED BY HER “HUSBAND”. SHE WAS PASSED AROUND BETWEEN HER OWN ENEMIES, SURROUNDED BY TRAITORS AND MURDERERS.

BUT THAT GIRL DIDNT LET IT TAKE AWAY WHO SHE WAS. SHE NEVER GAVE UP ALL HER TIME IN KING’S LANDING. SHE LEARNED WHAT SHE COULD ABOUT POLITICAL STRATEGY AND DECIET AND USED IT TO STAY ALIVE. SHE LEARNED HOW TO PLAY THE GAME OF THRONES, HOW TO PLAY THE ROLE OF AN INNOCENT GIRL TO SURVIVE. SHE SASSED THE LANNISTERS EVERY CHANCE SHE HAD. SHE HELD ON TO HER TITLE AS A STARK AND HER RIGHT TO WINTERFELL AND SHE REMAINED BRAVE IN THE FACE OF CERTAIN FAILURE. SHE JUMPED OFF A CASTLE WALL INTO THE SNOW TO ESCAPE HER ABUSER. SHE WADED THROUGH A FREEZING CREEK TO OUTRUN DOGS. SHE LOOKED HER CAPTOR IN THE EYE AND TOLD HIM SHE WAS NOT AFRAID. SHE FOUGHT HER WAY BACK TO HER FAMILY AND MOVED TO TAKE BACK HER HOME FORM ITS INVADERS. SHE RODE INTO BATTLE TO LOOK HER RAPIST AND ABUSER RIGHT IN THE EYE AND TELL HIM THAT HE WAS GOING TO DIE AND HE HAD NO CONTROL OVER HER. SHE BROUGHT THE KNIGHTS OF THE VALE TO THE BATTLE OF THE BASTARDS AND SAVED THE NORTHERN ARMIES. SHE FED THAT SAME RAPIST TO HIS OWN HUNTING HOUNDS AND SMILED AS HE DIED. SHE CONTINUES TO ADVISE JON EVEN IF NO ONE WILL LISTEN TO HER OPINIONS. SHE HAS THE LOYALTY OF THE NORTH BUT REFUSES TO TAKE THE TITLE OF QUEEN BECAUSE IT IS JON’S PLACE. SHE’S STILL DOING THE BEST SHE CAN AND TRYING TO KEEP HER FAMILY TOGETHER AND ALIVE AND NO ONE IS APPRECIATING HER FOR IT OR TAKING HER SERIOUSLY BUT THAT DOESNT STOP HER FROM TRYING HER BEST.

Like obviously the writing isn’t great towards her (or any female really lbr) but what they give to her for successes are so satisfying. Sansa was criticized and hated for being too whiny, defenseless, too weak and ultimately too important. And yet, this “unimportant” character? 

Sansa gets to say the long-awaited “winter is here” line. Sansa gets to kill off Ramsay, arguably the worst villain since Joffrey. Sansa gets to rule Winterfell in season 7. Sansa is the first Stark sibling to get the initial reunion scene with another Starkling - all three times.

If Sanders doesn’t get the nomination, and you can’t see yourself voting for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, then don’t. Vote third party.

Consider the Libertarian or Green Party.

Voting third party in America throws your vote directly into the garbage. Our system does not work like Australia’s. You don’t get a second or third choice, and candidates who win aren’t going to look at the numbers and say “I see 25% of Americans voted Green, I should implement Green policies.” That’s not how it works. Conservative voters overwhelmingly back a single party, the GOP, while non-conservative voters are the ones that scatter across multiple, weak fronts when faced with an unappealing Democratic party nominee. Think about it like this:

The majority of Republican voters support Trump and are not changing their vote even though party leaders and figureheads are universally decrying him. They’ve been groomed for decades by the GOP to be this way, and now party leaders have lost control of the impressionable voter base they created for themselves. There’s nothing they can do about it at this point. While a small number of Republicans can and are switching parties, it’s not very much. Meanwhile, Democrats are floundering, trying to decide which front to unite under. Some of them go to the Green party or Libertarians, sure; the rest stay with the Democratic party in the hopes that even with people leaving, they will have enough to block Trump. But Trump doesn’t need a majority of total Americans to vote for him; he only needs more than the other candidates have. Do you understand what I’m saying? Trump could get 10% of the vote, but as long as no other party has more than 10%, he still wins. The second you split the left and middle across three or four fronts, the right seizes control. This is how it goes down every single fucking time we go through this.

For the past two years or so I’ve been doing it. Like, wearing clothes I like and agreeing with people telling me I’m pretty and taking loads of selfies and telling myself (and others, loudly) ‘damn I look good today!’

So this summer, my little brother noticed. He’s very sweet and cuddly, so he often tells me I’m beautiful/pretty/cute and a few weeks ago he said to me, “You always agree with me now, you didn’t before.”

Because it’s true, I always used to reply to him things like, ‘that’s not true’ or ‘you’re cuter’ or ‘shhhh noooo’ while now I’m usually like ‘damn right’ or ‘yes i’m super hot.’

So I explained to him the ‘fake it til you make it’ approach.

Now, my brother is really pretty handsome. Like, he could be a model. Like, he’s tall and has dimples, and a dashing smile and great hair and he wears glasses and he’s damn cute and I tell him so all the time, and he always replies like, ‘wtf no I’m ugly’ or ‘no you’re the hotter sibling’ or ‘it’s not true.’

Except, in the past few weeks, after I’ve explained this to him, I noticed he’s starting to answer me with ‘yeah I’m the cutest’ or saying, spontaneously, ‘well we’re the most attractive couple of siblings ever, huh?’

He doesn’t do it all the time, but he’s starting to.

Which I’m starting to realise might be an after effect of what I’ve been doing and showing him.

Bottom line: ‘fake it ‘til you make it’ works and makes you feel better about yourself, and self-love is amazing, and the thing is, it sets an example for the younger people around you, and the people that you love.
