Well that's credits on The Incident at Galley House in two evenings of playing, and I think it's absolutely worth having paid for a game I already played for free on itch.
Nothing's changed about how the scenes of the initial incident play out (aside from one death getting less explicit for I think understandable reasons wrt how explicit it is in text versus in audio), but the frame story is entirely different in ways that pay off enough in effect that I think it's worth it even though I think Type Help's frame is better in story
Discovering that you have been experiencing the effects of the curse the entire time you have been playing is such a good moment, and there are so many tiny little details that you can optionally discover your mind had blanked out
And I like that it's more ambiguous about whether the curse continues. Erwin didn't erase every trace of himself. He's in the computer's list of everyone. You can put his full name together between the transcripts and ID list. He never met you in person, but then he spent his last moments speaking directly to you through the seance machine. Could this be enough for the emotional connection the curse requires? Who knows
Which isn't to say I didn't like having the ability to be a damn fool and figure out your predecessor's name in Type Help, but it's a lot more direct about how fucked you are for doing it and you also know what a fool you are for doing it as you do. In Galley House if you're fucked it's just your fate, not your doing, which is more in line with everyone else blundering into their deaths without understanding the consequences.
Honestly I think the ideal experience is play Type Help and then wait long enough you've forgotten most of the details so that it's easy to play Galley House pretending not to know what little you do until you can logic it again, but there's nothing wrong with just doing the one or the other of course
Look I love unconditional devotion love stories as much as the next person, but there's really something so deliciously raw about conditional devotion.

I've seen a bunch of "fandom etiquette" posts on my dash today and I'm going to say something that is maybe going to be unpopular but;
The absolutely pervasive mentality that unwanted criticism or critique shouldn't be given and should be ignored is why fans of color don't stay in fan spaces.
And I am not going to mince words here:
A lot of you are racist. A lot of your fan works are racist.
That might have been difficult to hear. And if it was, you should probably reflect on why that was.
"Fandom etiquette" has created a space where fans of color either bite our tongues and eventually leave or say something, get dogged on, and then eventually leave.
So much of "fandom etiquette" seems to be about insulating creatives from Feeling Bad and hostility to any kind of negative feedback is a pretty big contributor to why bigotry festers in these spaces.
#imo the potluck analogy applies- it would be rude to critique someone's icing technique at a potluck bc it wasn't as good as at the bakery #but if they had decorated their cupcakes w hate symbols it wouldn't be rude to tell them that's gross and gtfo #in fact it would be inappropriate to NOT say anything in that situation #or to complain that another guest who did point it out was 'ruining everyone's potluck' #and pointing out racism in fan works is 100% the second thing not the first!
