What is trust, what is luck? Nobody truly knows the definition of these words. This is why it is necessary to perform experiments in order to bring out these traits in people and study them. Kontesuto was created by a group of scientists assigned to study these traits, bringing people into the city. They will be given situations which will require these to be experienced: Luck, obedience, faith, lies, empathy, health, memory, and last but not least, life. All of these terms will be tested in Kontesuto. Those will fail or refuse to bring out these terms will be punished severely; those who obey will be rewarded.

You opened your eyes to a small room. The room was rather simple, a bed which you lay on in the corner, and a dresser on the opposite side of the room. How odd, you thought, for you held no memory of falling to sleep in this room. You were not bound to the bed, nor did anything inside the room pose as a threat. Drowsy and confused, you sat up and positioned yourself on the foot of the bed, stretching your arms before standing on your feet. Beside the dresser was a mirror which had been drilled to the wall. Shifting your attention from the mirror and to the dresser, you realized that a blue hairbrush was lying on top of it. You grasped it, turning back to the mirror to brush out the tangles in your hair, your actions only to be cut short by a voice which seemed to be coming from a loudspeaker.
