Hello! I made a dress from scratch for the Renaissance Faire. It took me six months to make the chemise, hoop skirt, under skirt, over skirts, French knot embroidered bodice, crown and jewelry. I am very excited to wear it this year despite how serious I look in the photos!

January 30th, 2025 - 19" x 4.5" Original photo taken in Valley Village, CA I think about this person from time to time and I hope they're doing better. Brown yarn is DK weight from @paintboxyarns and rainbow yarn is fingering weight 'You Glow Girl' from @emmasyarn . It's been fun to play with pairing different yarn weights together :))

Can I Please Eat In The Computer Room Tonight? by Nicole Nikolich (2025)
THIS IS CROCHET!!!!
Also, here's the creator's blurb about this piece from their instagram:
"can i please eat in the computer room tonight explores the positive and transformative view of tech from a preteens perspective growing up in the early aughts. this installation is a memorial to this fever dream of a time period where you could only access the internet in a specifically designated computer room, often decorated in brown hues and overstuffed with knickknacks and office supplies. this space, an escape to another part of your life, often felt like an oasis to explore who you were becoming for the first time without the microscope and confinements of adults and societal expectations. swapping sandboxes for CD-ROM games and mixed tapes. inside jokes with friends in chat rooms and staying up until way too late messaging your crush in your own secret language. taking selfies on the front facing camera and looking at yourself in a slightly different way for the first time. learning about yourself and the world all from the glow of a little square box in the middle of a little square room."
made some runescape godsword socks! tried a new colourwork method - ladderback jacquard - which i was always super intimidated by, but honestly it was a great time knitting it up and i love the result! so surprised the dark yarn floats are completely hidden behind the work (you can see where i ended a couple ladders but overall i'm very happy)
Doing some stranded colourwork. Basic cowl pattern is from Pacific Knit Co’s Doodle Directory book, pattern is the 2024 Flock Festival Doodle. I’m using yarns from Yarnaceous Fibers that were park of the special Flock Festival Doodle dye pack. I ended up sizing down the needles by a 1/4 of the recommend size as my naturally tight tension tends to loosen with stranded colourwork, plus the yarn is springy.
Rough draft of some mittens I’m making as a wedding gift for my brother and his soon-to-be wife! I’m planning to make two pairs and then a joined mitten, so luckily I have a few months. The front might be a little busy and I want to change the palm pattern, but this is the gist I guess. I still have to choose colors, make the bride’s size and design the joined one, and then actually make the things…😬
i just invented a cathedral rose window granny square pattern and i feel insane now

I was browsing Ravelry, as ya do, and I noticed that Audrey Borrego has made all her patterns free because she's no longer designing professionally. I've only made one sweater she designed (the Atlantica originally published in PomPom), but I remember enjoying knitting it, and she's got some neat lace and color work patterns you might want to check out because, I mean, free now!

i sewed a dress!!! this is by far my favourite thing i've ever made, i'm so proud of myself for actually finishing this. especially as, in the final few seconds of victory and elation, i realised i'd sewn one of the sleeves on inside out and also somehow sewn the armhole closed so I couldn't put it on?? and i couldn't find my seam ripper and was absolutely raging, but then found it in an unexpected location and spent the next 1.5 hours unpicking and resewing and NOW IT'S DONE!
when im done sewing i eat all the scrapped thread so i can be closer to my craft
