Nemesis are АI that exist in multiple copies, sharing a unified memory and a single set of algorithms. When a person logs into the System and becomes a bounty hunter (a Red), they are given a drive containing one of these copies. Nemesis act as guarantors and coordinators between clients and the Reds, most often disguised as voice assistants. Over time, an individual copy can develop a semblance of a “personality”, adapting to its assigned Red. However, as part of the system, it continues to refer to itself in the plural. In the event of a failure or liquidation of the Red, the copy self-destructs.
