They swarm him, dazzled by his larger than life presence, stories, and fun magic tricks that he had to share. Ellias, the child on his lap, was more than happy to tell him all about everything heโs learned in his short time on Toril, while his sister Fela does the exact same thing at the exact same time at higher volume. Together they ensure that Jarlaxle is well educated on their personal matters, knowledge, and concerns.
Khayt, well aware of the audacity of this man showing up on her doorstep unannounced with flowers and a smile, simply lets them overwhelm him. Heโd been away for a long, long, time, and she needs to make sure he understands the predicament he now finds himself in.
This was not the night he had expected to have in her home. Not by a long shot.
He leaves, many hours later after theyโd gone to bed and he had taken a few stinging words from their mother. He was unexpectedly humbled that the two small faces, who shone with joy when they looked upon him, looked like the face that reflected back at him every time he took a long leisurely gander at himself in a mirror.
