why does sans have an emotional response to the king doing his job as santa and giving presents to everyone even if he really doesn't know them and for some reason giving something to HIM (socks by the way) is... very meaningful to him

This is going to be a long post with all the screencaps so to spare your dashboards I’ve got a read more cut.  Also, to clarify- the shop, inn, and library areas all have unchanged dialogue so I skipped screencapping those sections.  One last thing to keep in mind is that once you kill Papyrus, Sans completely disappears from being involved in the game (until he judges you in the final corridor), so he- as well as Papyrus- have both disappeared from town.

Let’s start with the outside NPCs.

Now normally he is somewhat bothered because that lady is keeping her little brother on a leash but…

She’s happy because one of them (probably Papyrus) is no longer chasing Cinnamon.

If you’re wondering, the present pile’s text isn’t changed.

Though the text box is in the way, I can tell you that the two little rock(?) monsters are not outside.  Also, the wolf is still chucking ice and the door’s text stays the same.  Nothing new occurs north of here.

Now let’s head to Grillby’s.  This is where it gets really interesting…

First off, the theme that normally plays in here (“sans.”) is replaced with dead silence.

Quick note:  Lesser Dog, Greater Dog, and clicking directly on Grillby are all unchanged.

(My sprite moved slightly in this last picture because that’s actually what he says if you talk to him again.  He’s the only NPC in all of Snowdin [post-killing Papyrus] that says something different after his first round of dialogue so I wasn’t expecting anything more.)

I love how it’s heavily implied/established in various instances that not only is Sans a regular- he actually comes to Grillby’s multiple times in a single day.  The guy pretty much lives here by the sounds of it.

I’m in love with the joy this exudes along with the sense of movement through dancing! The painterly style and dash of speckling in the background is so nice on the eyes too! Such a soft style for the usually sharp and abrasive Boss, it’s a lovely contrast that somehow works so well! The expressions in this one are the cherry on top, too!
