𓏲ּ𝄢 Gyaru talk n°2 / My Take on the Gyaru "Lashes & Lens" Debate
Anyway, I was on TikTok and saw many gyarus claiming you couldn’t be gyaru if you weren’t wearing fake lashes and contact lenses. What do you think of that opinion? ૮₍ ´ ꒳ `₎ა
It may be surprising, but I don’t fully agree lolol (｡ᵕ ◞ _◟) Here is why:

First, many old-school looks are easily done without lashes or contact lenses. Specifically, look at the styles featured in Ranzuki during the 2000s–2010s.
I love, love old school! In the picture here, you can also see some looks that aren’t specifically "old school"/from Ranzuki, but they still work. Gyaru without lenses and lashes can and did exist! I find it so inspiring (^。^). I love simple but cute makeup that highlights natural features instead of masking them.

However, my problem is when I see baby gyarus trying to achieve specific makeup looks, ones that aren't like the old-school ones I showed, but trying to do them without lenses or lashes... like these:
Like... YOU NEED LASHES HERE!! I can understand not wanting to wear contacts (that’s fine), but gosh, at least wear the lashes ((T_T)).
Just because old-school gyaru featured makeup without lenses doesn't mean it’s an excuse to do "modern" or "heavy" makeup styles halfway. Don’t just choose the old-school aesthetic because you don’t want to put in the effort!
Honestly, I don’t blame the gyarus who scream that you "need" contacts and lashes. So many baby gyarus are joining the community, which is great! But many aren't putting in any effort at all, not in the makeup, the hair, the outfit, or the history.
They don't even try ParaPara anymore!! I’m not saying you have to ParaPara to be gyaru, but gosh, at least try! Try to actually get into that gyaru lifestyle you keep talking about!
