Oo thanks for the info! I'm new to the community + lifting from stores!! Not much new to lifting in general tho but really rusty (I used to steal from school all the time since I was literally 7 years old but stopped when everyone began installing those dome cameras in middle school) but yeeeah got any unique tips/advice for a rust collecter?
My tip is don’t go scrolling through liftblr with a competitive view on lifting. Far too often, people show up here ready to throw down and pull off a several-hundred-dollar haul, or start at a store like Sephora or Macy’s or Target. Don’t. If you’re rusty, you need to observe and take notes first. One amazing thing you can do already is take note of the packaging of the things you already buy. Take it apart and check for hidden RFID tags. This will give you a clue as to how that particular store tags.
Second, if you’re rusty then you aren’t ready for lifting tools like a hook and magnet. Just don’t take on this task yet. You need to practice, maybe even for months, the way you carry yourself and handle your items. Curb your anxiety down to where you aren’t acting erratic or jumpy before, during, and after lifting. Only snag an item or two at a time. Try to conceal on-body if you can - this will save a ton of grief if you beep going through towers because security will check your bag but they won’t make you strip.
Third, don’t do this unless you need to, right now. That’s my best advice. Don’t feel pressured to do it because everyone else on liftblr does. Go at your own pace. I don’t know how old you are or if you do your own shopping, but I have a family, so I routinely spend money on them. A huge reason I have not been caught is because the majority of my lifting is done alongside my regular shopping. During a $100+ shopping trip, I fill my bag during the trip with the stuff I’m lifting. Many LP agents have said that they hardly ever continue to watch someone who is acting natural and filling up their cart. I lift at Target and grocery stores and have never been caught at these places because of this.
Last, study. Study liftblr and read our unique experiences. Read our caught stories, our words of caution, our up-to-date policies and things we know from working retail. Go at your own pace and if you feel something is wrong when you’re out for a lift, then it’s much better to second-guess yourself and put the item down, than to screw up and give yourself away.
