Ok... so I did a thing. I still can't believe I did it and I don't know if it's any good... but I was very motivated and it kinda just poured out of me into my notes app.. I'm honestly quite scared to post this but I thought I'd try ya know?
I decided to try writing something for a codywan Ocean eyes song fic and then it just grew into this 5k monster that isn't really a song fic anymore. I did use some lines from the song, but it's more about the angst and confession. Anyways here it is I hope you enjoy. Go easy on me cause this is the first time I've ever done something like this.
Trigger warning for graphic depictions of violence and injury.
Blaster fire whizzed by him and the ground shook from aerial attacks as Cody sprinted across the battle field. He could catch glimpses of his General’s blue blade mixed with the 212th gold of their men.
Obi-wan had insisted on joining the main ground assault and had moved out before Cody had even touched down planetside with the reinforcements. The Separatist base they were to capture was supposed to be abandoned, but obviously their Intel was wrong. Cody was not surprised.
Obi-wan and the troops were nearing the base when Cody and the reinforcements finally caught up with them.
Obi-wan turned to glance at Cody and froze at the sound of gunships overhead. Cody and his General looked up as the Separatist bombers flew into view. Realization dawned on him. Rather than let them capture the base, the Serperatist planned to destroy it and them with it. The skies burned red. Cody swiftly glanced back down to see Obi-wan's eyes widen.
Those blue Ocean Eyes that had looked at him with fondness so many times were now blown wide.
Cody activated his coms, "Everyone get to cover!!" He screamed. His brothers began lurching into action and ducking under broken machinery and the rocky outcrops they had been standing on. Obi-wan jumped forward and Cody screamed at him to stop.
His General had been close enough to duck behind cover, whereas Cody was out in the open a good 50ft from any of the available structures. Cody ran to meet his "stupid" General as the ships began dropping there bombs on the base. The explosions helped to propel Obi-wan forward and he threw himself over Cody with enough force to knock the wind out of him.
Cody's ears rang violently and he coughed a few times. The first thing he could hear was screaming and it wasn't until Obi-wan opened his eyes and looked at him, that he realized it was him who was screaming.
Obi-wans pupils were blown wide and he had tears forming. His mouth was a tight line and his breaths were coming in fast puffs. Cody could feel hot liquid pouring onto his chest.
He almost screamed again at the sight. A piece of metal had gone clear through Obi-wan and into Cody's shoulder, a mere few inches from his heart. Cody groaned as Obi-wan somehow managed to remove his helmet. He huffed out, "You're alive," with a sigh when he looked into Cody's eyes. Cody tried to respond but he couldn't form any words. All that would come out were sobs. He could hear his brothers scrambling around them and someone yelling for a medic. But all he could focus on was the hot blood gushing out of Obi-wan and onto him.
When Cody found his voice he chocked, "No fair. I'm supposed to watch your back and keep you safe. Why General!? Why would you leave cover!?"
His G- Obi-wan stared at him and whispered, "I couldn't let you die." He paused and then said stronger, "I was scared. I've never fallen this far for someone, and I didn't know if I could live without you Cody." The last part came out chocked and Cody stared at him in shock.
Cody had known for months now that he loved Obi-wan. Rex had given him hell for it ever since he had figured it out. Most of the 212th had bets on when the two of them would finally admit there feelings. It was at that point that Cody realized he was supposed to respond and that Obi-wan was talking.
"-- of course I understand if you don't -" "Force Obi-wan," he cuts him off. He lifts his uninjured arm and cups Obi-Wan’s face. "Of course I feel the same way you di'kut!" Obi-wan's eyes crinckled and he laughed. Cody leaned his forehead against Obi-wan's when Obi-wan started coughing. Deep, chocking coughs. Cody began to painc as Obi-wans eyes widened and his color paled. The medics arrived as Cody called out Obi-wan's name frantically, "Obi-wan! Obi-wan breathe! Stay with me please!" He began sobbing as Obi-Wan's eyes glazed over and dropped. Someone was saying something to him, but he couldn't hear them. All he could see was Obi-wan's ocean eyes fading.

Cody woke with a start some unknown time later. He whirled around frantically searching when hands pushed him back. "CODY! Cody its alright!" Kix told him. Him and another medic were forcibly holding him as he searched the med bay for a glimpse.
"Where is he! Where's Obi-wan! He can't be ... he can't--. I saw him.. I saw his eyes. He--"
Kix cut him off, "Cody he's alive!"
Cody stopped and stared wide eyed at him, "but I saw-- and all the blood!"
"Cody we sedated him. He didn't die, he just lost concoiusness. He's in a bacta tank in the other room." Cody spluttered and stopped. He sighed and said to himself, "he's alive.." He looked up at Kix. "Can I see him?"
Kix gave him a small smile and nodded. He helped him stand and Cody became more aware of how rough of shape he was in. His shoulder was covered in bandages and he could feel bruises all over his chest from when Obi-wan had landed on him.
Cody let out a breath he hadn't know he was holding when he saw Obi-wan floating in the bacta tank. He dropped into the chair someone had brought in and tried to listen to all the medical information Kix was saying about how lucky they both were. He could barely hear over his pounding heart and the blood rushing in his ears.
Obi-wan had admitted he loved him. He hadn't said the words, but the meaning was clear. And kriff, Cody had said it back. He put his head in his hands to hid his tears Obi-wan was alive.
Kix patted his shoulder knowingly, "don't worry Commader. You have 16 hours to figure out what to say when he wakes up." Cody just stared at him while he laughed shaking his head. "Yes you said all that outloud." He slapped Cody's good shoulder making him wince. "Good luck Commander!"
