threw a boomerang like 6 years ago and it never came back so now I live in constant fear
#HUMAN YOU ARE HERE WOULD YOU LIKE A PILLOW
That⌠actually seems like a really smart idea?
I bet you these dogs used to bark like crazy whenever someone approached the door. Training an animal to stop doing something is way harder than training an animal to start doing something most of the time. So, solution, train the dogs to start doing something like, say, picking up a pillow whenever someone approaches the door, and as a side effect, they donât bark at the person because (a) theyâre distracted searching for the pillow and (b) itâs kind of hard to bark when youâve got a pillow in your mouth.
thatâs seriously brilliant
My parentsâ dog has a whole crate of stuffed toys, and he picks one for every visitor. The beagle toy is the default, but he will often dig through the box trying to find the right toy. He often brings me the crocodile which I bought for him, or a large frog. He also has four pigs, and those are for special friends. Only family members are greeted with the biggest toy he has, the Great Pig of Honour.
#i have never loved dogs more than in this moment
Iâm a picky person and I picked you. Think about that
i cant wait for elon musk to be the first man to die on Mars when the Curiosity rover, enraged by his presence, smashes his space helmet with a rockÂ
If a robot killed a capitalist on Mars would that be fucked up or what
itâd be fantastic

mary shelley was the daughter of one of the first feminists as we know it, she met & ran away with percy shelley when she was 18, she wrote BOTH the first sci fi AND post apocalyptic novels, she was at the forefront of romanticism AND gothicism, two of the most influential literary and artistic movements in present day, she suffered from depression and only one out of her four children lived, her husband, who had several affairs, died when they were in their twenties, a majority of her friends and romantic poets also all died in their twenties, and yet she still continued writing poetry and novels and creating art throughout the rest of her life and lived til she was nearly 60. mary shelley is incredibly underappreciated she went through so much and has contributed & influenced so much to the english lit. canon as we know it she is one of the most remarkable writers & women of this era & i love her
straight people will listen to somebody to love by queen and be like âi understand thisâ but my hot take is that they donât and they never will
its really such an indescribable headspace going on long roadtrips in america (but not taking the scenic highways just using the interstates) like the road looks the same for hours. maybe you start driving into the mountains or youâre going out west and you go from plains to mountains to desert, but for the most part it just looks like trees and two stretches of asphalt for as far as you can see. you pull off at an exit to get something to eat or to get gas and it looks the same as every interstate exit youâve ever been to. the stores might be different, maybe theres a burger king here where there was a mcdonalds at the last one. maybe its a different gas station chain. thereâs a few strip malls but no two have the exact same stores. but itâs all the same. it all feels the same. there is no true sensory indication of where you are. you are both nowhere and anywhere.Â

what is the january mood?
North American CryptidsÂ
Reblogging this cuz some of my mutuals consider this Tinder and I support them.
Southern California Gothic
⢠youâre driving to work, youâre stopped at an intersection, there are people selling fruit and flowers on every corner. Thereâs a sign that forbids this. A police officer buys a basket of oranges for three dollars.
⢠youâre at the park, you blink, there is now a man with a cart in front of you. You donât question this. You buy an elote.
⢠itâs cold, so cold. Your weather app says 67 degrees. That canât be, itâs so cold. You see tourists in short sleeves, you exclaim to your friend that they must be insane! Itâs so cold.
⢠you leave the doctors office, there is a Starbucks on the corner. It was not there when you went into the doctors office. You buy a latte.
⢠youâre hanging out with your friends, one mentions that theyâre hungry and want in-n-out. You are so hungry. So, so hungry. You get a double double with animal fries and a pink lemonade. The restaurant was not there yesterday.
⢠they said rain will come this week, it will not. The rain decides when to come. You canât make its choices for it. That would be rude.
⢠youâre finished with your shopping. You pack your things into the car and start to drive. You drive to stater bros. Youâre not done shopping yet.
⢠you are driving, the radio wonât work. The only stations you can hear, faintly, are Spanish talk radio and Christian music. Sometimes in the static you hear the faint sound of the beach boys.
⢠you go to the beach. You donât know the way. All roads lead to the beach.
⢠it was foggy today. Nobody dared leave their homes.
⢠youâve been driving for two days. You are still in California.
⢠youâre falling asleep, something feels off. The train blares itâs horn an unknown distance away. Youâre able to sleep.
⢠you hear the fireworks at Disneyland. You donât live anywhere hear Anaheim. You simply turn up the volume.
⢠youâre at knotts berry farm, three yards away there is a cowboy holding a boysenberry cotton candy, you hear screams from the direction of silver bullet. Youâve been sitting outside the saloon for days.
Ok, but yeah. I want to work more than 15 hours a week. I genuinely love the challenge with what I do. 15 seems, oddly tiny? Where did this number come from?
This is a good response to that question, in case anyone wanted the q&a paired together. 15 would be the social average â some people might work more, some less, but that would be up to them. This is also presupposing a change in the way the economy effectively functions, in the sense that 15 hours would be the social average for necessary labor, and after that point youâd probably see tons of people participating in âunnecessaryâ labor out of interest. Thereâs an idea in socialist theory that basically says once you reach a point far enough along after capitalism youâd just start seeing a blurring of the lines between whatâs defined as âworkâ (or as âa jobâ) and whatâs defined as âa collective activityâ, especially with regard to the arts, science, etc.
At the very least, a transition towards (eco)socialism will require a vast shortening of the workweek and a reduction in overall advertising/consumption, whether that mean a 15-hour week or a 20-hour week. The main point is that people are overworked, we can meet everyoneâs needs feasibly with less hours anyway, and the over-emphasis on extraction and accumulation (which is in part fueled by a tediously long workweek) is having disastrous effects on the planet. We can both accomodate the needs of the planet AND expand the political horizons for the great majority of the population, but it will require the fundamental defeat of capitalism and the establishment of a new ecological workersâ democracy. Itâs a big project, but so worth it in the long run.

you know whatâs wild is that all these crazy standards we hold ourselves to are things that we donât even value in another person? like iâve never been like âwow I love that this friend of mine is too proud to ask for help and never complains about their feelingsâ or âmy favorite quality about this friend is that they get straight Aâs and never get overwhelmed and has never told me about a problemâ or âi love that this friend has never been wrong about anything or slipped up and said something embarrassing once in their lifeâ and yet here we are, pushing ourselves past our limits for and beating ourselves up over slipups of things that our friends probably wouldnât even rank in the top 50 reasons they like us
yuuuuup âthink of yourself as your own friendâ is Ultimate Mental Health Life Hack i mean ymmv and not everything works for everyone but it def helps me
