How English has changed in the past 1000 years.
the big mans a lad i have fuck all, he lets me have a kip in a field he showed me a pond
子育て
I found a story which is quite easy to read.

Satori Reader Beta
I signed up for Satori Reader beta testing a few months back and got my invitation recently. It looks good!
The site is designed by the developers of Human Japanese who say:
One of the most common questions we get from readers is “Where do I go next?” Regardless of whether you’ve worked through the Human Japanese series or come from another background, a challenge that all intermediate students face is bridging the gap between the controlled Japanese of the learning environment, where the author is careful not to overwhelm, and the off-the-rails, wide-open world of communication intended for native speakers.
Satori Reader is our best effort to give students everything they need to navigate this stage of their journey and comprehend Japanese more deeply every day.
It is:
A steady stream of fresh Japanese content…
Spanning many different modes of communication…
Available in multiple difficulty levels…
Presented in kanji and kana according to your knowledge…Richly annotated with definitions, translations, and notes…
Accompanied by high-quality recordings…
With built-in support for spaced-repetition review.
There are articles that are adjusted according to your difficulty level, built in translations, audio and dictionaries which show word meanings in the context of the article, not all possible meanings of a word. You can adjust the amount of kanji and furigana shown to reflect your ability. There’s an SRS system you can easily add words to to improve your vocabulary too.
Beta testing is still open, so if you want to try it out sign up here.

I laughed when I saw this fact but stopped when I saw the explanation…Turkey gained independence when the Ottoman Empire broke up and the new president decreed that Turkish would now be written with the Latin alphabet instead of the Arabic one. Well that would cause problems enough, but breaking ties with the old empire wasn’t the only reason.
Kemal Atatürk wanted to force Turkey’s minorities to assimilate, and of course one good way to do this is through oppression of languages. The Kurds were the most hard-hit - fully 20% of the population spoke Kurdish. Q, W and X were outlawed and several new characters added to fit the Latin alphabet perfectly around the Turkish language - and make it more difficult to write in any other ones.
Love this. #words #OE #English #linguistics
No, you don’t understand. This is an actual thing though.
