Query Generator!
I’ve just launched a new website called Query Generator!
Query Generator is a tool for fiction writers in the early stages of drafting or reworking their query letters. The Generator helps you identify important aspects of your story and gathers them into a standard query structure.
The main feature of the website is the Generator itself, which has a form that’s divided into five sections:
Section 1: The Protagonist
Section 2: The Plot
Section 3: Meta Data
Section 4: You!
Section 5: The Agent
The Generator looks something like this:
Every single item has both an explanations and a few examples of how you might fill out the item, which should help to guide you in filling out each section. Some of the questions are extremely simple (ex. ”Full Name”) while some might take a bit of thinking (ex. “Initial Challenges”).
Once you’re done, your query will look something like the ones on the Example Page:
The example page features the “blank” template and two examples of filled out forms. This will help you see how everything actually fits together, and should provide you with some further help before you start with your own query - or, if the Generator produces an incoherent mess - will help you see how it was everything was meant to come together in the end. You can really see here that there are very few words the Generator actually adds to your project. The longest string is six. The Generator is meant to help you find your own words as you draft your query.
Finally, there’s an Advice Page:
This page is meant to help you:
understand why the generator functions the way it does,
provides tips for further editing your query, and
helps you look toward next steps once you finish revising your query.
Why the Generator Exists
I’ve noticed, doing some query critiques here and in workshops with friends, that many first-attempts at queries are missing some fundamental story elements: protagonist ages, word counts, inciting incidents, setting, etc. No matter how well written they were, they weren’t fulfilling all of the functions required by query letters.
I have my writing the perfect query letter post, but as I was helping a friend rewrite her query, I realized that some elements were just so formulaic, that there had to be a way to just… make a query generating form.
So I decided to build, basically, a Query Ad-Libs. You fill out a form that asks for your story elements, giving you examples and explanations to help you along the way. Once it has the information, it puts everything together, and hands it back to you in a standard query layout.
It won’t be well-written, but it’ll be a starting point for you to take back to your Word Doc and hopefully use to make something amazing.
A Simple Website
This website was created by me (concept, content, & design) and my boyfriend (qualified, professional computer programmer). We didn’t have a team or testers or any outside help along the way. Just a drive to combine our skills and do something with our time besides binging Netflix (and many, many cups of Starbucks.) It’s not a professional or moneymaking endeavor, either. There are no ads or fees.
However, if you find the site useful and would like to show your appreciation, donations of cups of coffee via Ko-Fi would be greatly valued, and spent coming up with additional content, either for this site or a new one: https://ko-fi.com/letswritesomenovels.
Also, if you come across any bugs, please let us know, so we can fix them for future visitors to the Query Generator!
I hope you check it out, and - if you do - I hope you find it useful to your writing endeavors, whether you’re getting ready to query, dreaming of querying, or just having fun.

“honor role, fairy princess and other impossible ordeals.”
that’s one heck of a book tittle
Poem
Tiny fingers barely make their way around a father's finger
Fathers hands are many things
They are strength
To hold our hand while we learn to walk
They are will-power
To help us when we ride our bike
They are rules
To keep us from forbidden paths
And they are gentle
To give us just a father's touch
Our hands grow bigger to the size of his palm
We learned to walk and we walked away
We rode our bikes and we rode for days
We learned the rules but took the paths
And fathers touch was always there
We all wander and we all roam
We walk for miles away from home
But a father's touch can’t be forgotten
We always walk the miles back
With father's hands open and wait’en
As we grow old his hands shrink
Soon ours fit from heel to tip
We come and go from father's home
Never staying long
But everytime that we return
Fathers hands are just as strong
When they hold us
It’s like we shrink
Our father’s hands are many things
They are strength
To hold our hand and help us find a job
They are will-power
To teach us when we drive a car
They are rules
To keep us on the straight and narrow
To give us our Father’s touch
I’m back

poem
I’m like me
Just because I dont starve myself
Doesn’t mean that I’m not sad
Happiness has nothing to do with health
The people who say this make me mad
I shove food into my mouth
As a way to fill the void in my soul.
It turns my life so north is south
To where I now have a worldly goal
Be pretty skinny and silent
But I’m ugly fat and Violent
Girls like pink and doing their hair
I like blue and roughhousing at the fair
it doesn't’ make me a boy
If I don’t want to be someone's toy
The skinny and pretty are unusually cruel
They trap me in a game meant for a fool
The school year slowly comes to an end
And every other person wishes they were dead
The monsters are in my head
Not under my bed
Why can you not understand
I’m not like you
I’m like me
But sometimes that isn’t enough

pass around story
I look around as I stand in the dark ally. Several cars drive by, but too fast to see the driver. Which means they can't see me or my face. I look at my watch to see what time it is. It’s almost three a.m. I unclip my watch and examine the engraving on the back.
To my dear grandson, Jax.
The sound of feet coming towards me startles me and I shove my silver watch onto my coat pocket, it bumps into my envelope full of 100 dollar bills. I exhaled heavily and I can see my breath. The two dark figures get closer. One is two feet taller than the other and very muscular. The other is rather scrawny.
“You have the money?” the scrawny middle aged man asks. I was confused, I didn’t owe money to anyone.
“What are you talking about? Who are you?” I asked. Well, that made the man more confused than me.
“I’m Harry Rettop, we talked on the phone?” he responded. All the sudden, I remembered. He was the one that wanted his pay for the stuff I stole.
Earlier that day, I was dared to steal money from the bank just around the corner of the alley. Being the daredevil I was, I accepted. I rushed into the vault when no one was looking. I came out with one thousand. All the sudden, I felt a chill. That was the ironic thing because it was perfectly warm. All the sudden, out of nowhere, a bumped into the scrawny man I mentioned earlier. He noticed I held the bags of money.
“I see that you like to steal,” he thought. I got nervous because he was a complete stranger.
“No,” I honestly stated. He grunted,
“hmm,” as if he were suspicious. “Give us the money,” he forced on me. I didn’t know what to do, so I said,
“I’ll give you an IOU,”.
we’ve all played the game where every one pitches in to tell a story, well this one we each got to write for 60 seconds then pass it along, I started this one and then many other people from my creative writing class finished it. in the part you read myself and two other people wrote. enjoy!
when writing with friends
The friends have two more hours and are going down to the abandoned shop at the edge of town to explore. Rumors have it that the last person who went there never came back, and naturally the four friends decided to tempt fate.
“Can we go already?” Andrew whines.
“Let us finish.” Jasmine says.
“You are such slow eaters,” Andrew continues.
“Hey you try and eat a full steak and chug a full glass of soda down in the next three minutes, give us a second.” Bruce replied
“One it’s been a second,” Andrew says.
Then he left to go get some ice cream.
“i think that what we are doing is stupid.” rose proclaimed “along with all the Rumors i mean really 'he vanished' that is the most cliche line ever!!” Andrew came back with his ice cream. He quickly gulped it down and continued complaining about his friends taking forever.
“Well I’m done. Anyone else?” Jasmin stands
“Yes i am” rose says also standing.
“Were waiting only on you, Bruce.”
“Let me take my plate back real quick and then we’ll go.” Bruce says. After Bruce returned his dishes the four left and headed South towards the abandoned shop,
bell work
“Oooooooooooooooooooooff!” I fall to the ground with a thud. I rub my head and look up to see who I ran into. A girl.
“I am so so sorry.” I say standing and attempting to help her up. “That was my bad are you ok.” she looks at me in shock.
“Why are you saying sorry?” she asks I raise an eyebrow.
“What do you mean? I ran into you and you fell. Why wouldn’t I say sorry?” I say attempting to help her up again.
“Wait your saying it’s not my fault. Like your taking the blame?” she asks
“Here we go again.” I roll my eyes.
“What do you mean again?” she asks standing without my offer help.
“I mean people always try not to make me take the blame. What do you want me to blame you?” I ask
“No! People just always place the blame on me! I don’t want anyone to blame me.” she hangs her head
“Well I would never place the blame on you.” I pause. That came out wrong. Well that has certainly never happened. She stares at him dumbfounded. She blinks then shakes her head.
“Really? Why not. People always find a way to blame me for there problems.”

Researchers discover lounge that only women understand!
Recently researchers have discovered a new language that apparently only women can understand. A woman named Janet found it during an archaeology dig in Antarctica, during the summer of 2018. Researchers have dune many tests on women and men. All women even women as young as 15 understand this new found lounge. Not one single man has been able to understand it at any length. researchers say This is not a written language. Upon entering a cave she was exposed to a chemical that was able to bring the lost language back from the dead. researchers say “even after we exposed these chemicals to men they were not able to understand. Only women have this unique ability.” Janet says things in this new language to her friends that were with her on the dig with her and the could understand. But the men could not. Janet says “as soon as I said something in this new language, it was spread throughout women kind, and now is almost fully returned.”

fractured fairy tail
Scarlet places he elbows on the counter and sulks. She lets out a long agonizing sigh.
“Come on Red it’s not that bad.” her Mother places a hand on her shoulder and gives it a reassuring squeeze. “It’s only a head cold.” Scarlet glared at her Mother as she walks around the counter and continues to place things into a picnic basket.
“I’m not groaning about her stupid cold Mom. I don’t want to go. Cant Dad bring it?”
“Your father has to work you know this Red. Now grab the cupcakes, please.” Scarlet stands and drags her feet across the kitchen floor and picked up a pack of cupcakes. She walks over to her Mom and rolls her eyes as she hands them to her. She know there's no getting out of it. “Now the bottle of lemonade from the fridge.” Scarlet lets out another long sigh on her way to the fridge. She does love her Grandma but her hate of doing work, out ways the love.
Scarlet’s pocket buzzes as she reaches inside the cold confines of the fridge. She pulls out her phone and looks at the illuminated screen. She sees a text from her friend, hunter, in a family of lumberjacks, so she calls him, wood cutter. The text reads; “why do they call you Red any way?” referencing their previous conversation.
short story
Ash Sits on the edge of her roof. A dark hood covering her face. Her tail curling out behind her almost completely counseling the tattoos she had. She watched over this neighborhood. Ash finds and takes out any gang she can find. Gangs ruined her family, and she is out for justice. This neighborhood has been attacked by a gang the last couple nights, and tonight, is there last night. As a mysterious car turned down the street she jumped down and ducked behind a bush. Her long slinky body absorbed the landing. then she used her keen sense of smell to find out where the car is now.
*being a mutant ferret isn’t half bad* she thinks to herself before ambushing the car. She skittered across the yard and then jumped on the roof of the vehicle. She pressed her big furry ears up against the mettle and tried to listen in. she won't attack unless she has the right people. She can hear people talking
“Which car should we hit up first?” one says
“The most wealthy looking.” says the other. And they both start chuckling.
She knew she has the right car but she wants to catch them in the act. Ash sat on the roof and examined her nails. Then with her hand still in front of her face she scrunches her eyes closed and her nails shoot out into claws. She uses them to keep her on top of the car. She tightens the strings of her hood to conceal her face. She may be trying to get rid of gangs but no one really likes her.
