The shining and Doctor sleep spoilers -

I don't get how some people believe book Jack was a good person who was just influenced by the hotel. Even before the hotel he was still a bad person just more complex. Not saying he's entirely evil, entirely a bad father or entirely a bad husband, but he did some bad things that definitely make him not a good person.

Also I'm pretty sure the reason the hotel got Jack to try kill Danny is cus Wendy would never let herself hurt Danny no matter what where as Jack did have the power in him to hurt Danny

Also not saying I dislike Jack I just don't think he was a good person even before the hotel.

Also reminder he cheated on Wendy (revealed in Dr Sleep book)

I feel like the main reason people forgive all the bad things he did is cus in the last bit before he explodes he tells Danny he loves him, but that doesn't erase how he wasn't the best father. (I think he's also forgiven due to his traumatic childhood, which I do understand probably influenced his bad behaviour)
