Post-IW, Peter has awful PTSD because duh. The wrong thing being brought up can trigger flashbacks and memories and he hates it.

Peter’s classmates all saw Spider-Man disappear with Iron Man onto the big spaceship donut and didn’t come back until after everyone was brought back from dust. They don’t know what happened to him and they’re sure they probably don’t want to know. So they take extra care to try and not accidentally trigger anything for him.

Someone mentions Footloose and Peter nearly loses it on the spot? The entire class makes the collective decision to never bring it up again, who cared about the movie anyways.

“You mean you have the strengths of a horse?”

“No.”

“Is it, like, a magic horse?”

“No.”

“Does it –”

“Let me stop you right there. No, it doesn’t have any special powers. It’s not particularly smarter than a regular horse, I can’t communicate with it telepathically, and I can’t summon it out of thin air. It’s just a horse.”

“… I guess I don’t see what makes that a super power, then. How is having a regular horse a super power?“

“Look behind you.“

“Why, whaholyshitit’sahorse.”

“See?”

“When did it get here? How did it get here?”

“Haven’t a clue. She just tends to show up whenever I need a horse.”

“What do you need a horse for right now?”

then he realised HE COULD CAPTION THEM

Ableist: “I don’t believe you. It’s not normal to struggle with that.”

Disabled Person: “I struggle with this because of a disability.”

Ableist: “I don’t believe you. Unless you’ve been diagnosed, you don’t have a disability.”

Disabled Person: “I struggle with this because of a diagnosed disability.”
