I think in 2026 you should make it a goal to engage with art more critically As In analyze it, ask questions about it, form opinions more thoughtful than "this looks realistic" or "it has human soul". maybe those can be your starting points but it's enriching and fun to expand upon those thoughts. ask "in what ways does realism benefit or hurt this piece of art? how would this piece change if it were more abstract?" or "how am I defining human soul? why do I feel that's present in this art? what does this contribute to the themes the piece is exploring, if at all?"

engage with unchallenging art critically, engage with scary art critically, when you see something you think is good ask why it's good, when you see something you think is bad ask why its bad, avoid making generalizations for entire genres/mediums/techniques, keep an open mind, find the ugliest art you can find and try to view it through the eyes of the people who love it just to see if you can learn anything from that, just to try it out.
