Weâve all been there
I donât know how this makes me feel but I feel something
me: *gets heartbroken* also me: "I'll still be here if you need anything though haha"
what is it about fungi thatâs so mythical and freaky and set in humanities heads as âfable and Other Folkâ fodder
the lore
the vibes
the spooky feeling in the Ghosts and Aliens Section of my brain that goes off
like, look at this and tell me that magic isnât real and doesnât want to strip us bare and use our souls as bartering chips in cosmic games of poker
mushrooms are an ancient force of growth and decay, life and rot, collapse and creation; they have been here long before us and will remain long after weâre gone- devouring that which kills us and creating that which forgets us.
it is best you tread carefully.
Iâm studying biotech and every time someone brings up mushrooms our current professor will look either extremely exited or pained and go âlisten.. mushrooms are neither plants nor animals nor something in between. They elude all attempts to categorize them. We do not know what they are. Some are immortal. Some produce live saving substances. Some are so closely related to humans that eating them may cause an allergic reaction against your own body. I cannot teach you about the mushroomsâ
Oh to be a biotech professor and wax lyrical about the eldritch immortal mushroom.
I always wished that mushrooms were a permanent growth and not just a temporary fruiting body, but the fact that they just briefly come and go is probably exactly why they still have that mysterious feel to us, and because they favor conditions humans historically didnât spend as much time in; dark and wet. Same reason people still think a lot of bugs, amphibians and night creatures are weird and unusual. They just donât cross over into our territory exactly as much as little tweety birds and daffodils.
another emo post lmao

Turns out its International Clown Week!!đ¤Ąđđ
happy cishet pride đđđđ
unpopular opinion maybe but I think purity culture and cancel culture have gone too far, and theyâve started to become so ugly and toxic. letâs bring back critical thinking, patience with others, and opportunity for growth
Okay. Holy fuck. This post blew up â on a sideblog where I had, I shit you not, only two followers when I posted this â so Iâd like to clarify what I meant when I made this post.
Great question!
1) I am NOT saying we support murderers, rapists, and abusers; people who decide to commit crimes such as those do not deserve our support, and thatâs fine.
2) I am also NOT saying we let creators/celebrities/influencers etc say and do racist/homophobic/transphobic etc things and get away with it.
3) I am NOT saying we go back to the âgood olâ daysâ where openly being racist, for example, was acceptable. I donât want that. If you reblogged this post thinking âgod, yes, I want to say bigoted things again without sjws attacking me for itâ tough luck buddy, but this post ainât supporting that or you.
This post is actually directed to activist communities, particularly online ones. This criticism is coming from someone who is a part of those activist communities because I think itâs time we have an intra-community discussion about how we react to problematic events.
So say a celebrity does something problematic. Letâs use a real-world example, okay? A while ago, Terry Crews came under fire for saying people needed paternal and maternal love âno matter where you get that [from].â
People immediately jumped on him for implying that children of single parents or same-sex parents were lacking, that he was being homophobic, that heâd blown it, that he was cancelled and could no longer be a role model despite his past activism and support of various good causes, and that was that.
From 0 to 100 real quick. From a valid criticism sprouting from his miscommunication and his audienceâs misunderstanding â to saying his role as an activist was forever over.
Do you understand how toxic that is? People â even our ALLIES â cannot make a single mistake, not say a single thing out of line without being dragged forth and humiliated and âcancelled.â
We as activists cannot, CANNOT, demand perfection. We ourselves are NOT perfect, we ourselves have done and said problematic things in the past and so we cannot demand absolute perfection from others.
Our response to problematic things and people has to change.
How should we change?
We should educate. When someone, ally or enemy, does something problematic, instead of dragging them or cancelling them or making fun of them we should politely educate them on why what they did is wrong. More often than not? Theyâll understand and apologize!
Always assume ignorance on their part instead of malice, because actual malice in the world is rare, while simple ignorance is widespread.
If we come at them and attack them? Very likely they will double down on their position and refuse to change, because of the toxicity of the response they got from this movement. And they wonât learn and grow from this experience and will likely dig themselves deeper in this hole.
We have to be more patient with others. I know it is tiring and frustrating and exhausting to deal with problematic attitudes and comments, which often come in the form of microaggressions, but we have to rise above our initial instinct to lash out and attack if we want any lasting positive social change to be made.
Because we donât want a society where people are afraid to speak their minds, do we? We donât want a society where people are afraid theyâll say the wrong thing and be excommunicated from a group forever, do we? We donât want a fucking authoritarian Twitter regime, do we, where the slightest misstep kicks you to the cub for good?
I know I donât. I want a society free of prejudices and bigotry, but one that is patient and understanding when people make mistakes. Even when their mistakes cause momentary harm, because itâs going to happen and it sucks, but itâs a part of the process.
Bottom line is: if you do not become a more patient, compassionate, and understanding person, you are going to alienate your allies. You are going to drive away more and more people from this movement because of how toxic the response to even the smallest of mistakes is. Nobodyâs going to WANT to be a part of that movement, and for good reason.
Embrace patience and empathy and education. Destroy cancel culture.
iâve said it before iâll say it again thereâs a difference between lady gaga singing born this way in 2011 and taylor swift singing âshade never made anyone less gayâ (whatever the fuck that means) to profit off of it in 2019
The difference is that Lady Gaga is bisexual and Taylor Swift is straight
Honestly, even if Taylor came out as gay or bi tomorrow, âYou Need To Calm Downâ would still be tacky because of tone an content.
Born This Way was, unequivocally, âYou are beautiful for being YOU in a world that often tells you youâre notâ while âYou Need To Calm Downâ is basically âMe, and The Gaysâ˘, have hatersâ.
Gaga was singing about celebrating herself with Born This Way. Taylor Swift comes off as comparing homophobia as equivocable the beef she had with Katy Perry.
I feel a better comparison from the early 10s is Same Love by Macklemore. While yeah, the song is clumsy and hokey, at least âI received a lot of misdirected homophobia growing up and I can only imagine how much worse it is for gay folksâ is more tasteful than âhomophobia is just like when critics say my songs arenât good or I get snake emoji replies on Twitter.â
Even if she has the best intentions, the final product comes off as, well, tone deaf and a little exploitative.

THIS IS SO FUCKING FUNNY THE LAST ONE
