so the main six and karai have just finished a mission and are hanging out on top of a rooftop. it's around this time that a bar on the street below them is closing. the door opens, and a bunch of happy drunks spill out of the bar. the group watches, as there's nothing else going on, except for casey, who jumps down without telling anyone.

and then, they see casey on the street, and he seems to be going up to this group of drunk guys, which is very strange and unexpected to them, and they look at each other like "???". there's a drunk in the middle, notably the tallest and pretty muscular, and considering the rest of the extras on the new york streets in this universe are all built the same, the others are again a little surprised. and casey goes up to this guy, seems to grab his arms to get his attention, and starts excitedly talking to him.

the guy immediately puts casey in a gentle headlock and starts messing up his hair, before giving him some money. after, casey runs back to the group, all "hey, my dad gave me fifty bucks, we can order something?" the others, who've never seen or heard much about casey's dad before, are quite pleasantly surprised.

especially now they have fifty bucks to add to their four combined dollars.

i like the idea of casey and his dad having a good relationship while also not knowing where the other is most of the time. casey's dad loves him a lot, while also giving him a lot more freedom than supernanny would recommend. after this, when casey realised the others were interested in his family and wanted to know more about them, he would answer calls from his dad on speakerphone instead of walking out of the lair to take them, or would mention his mom when she came up instead of letting the opportunity pass because surely no one wants to hear about someone's dead mom while they're trying to have fun?

sometimes he's a useless drunk idiot, sometimes he's the dad who calls casey while he's at the lair to see where he is and beg, much to casey's annoyance, to say hi to his friends.

that man felt smoke fill his lungs and flames scald his face as a fire took everything he ever had, his family included, away and you dare to suggest he’d just willing discard a son because he’s not a straight enough mutant turtle?

he risked his life raising four mutated turtles like babies before he even knew they would develop with human intelligence simply because they needed him. he thought he’d be raising giant turtles with animal minds for the rest of his life and was willing to do it anyway, you think a gay kid is where he draws the line?

it's normal for a person with potential to believe they're meant for something greater, but again casey really does show a disconnect from reality. he's absolutely convinced he's something he's not, his strength cannot be matched, and something is calling him to fight, what he sometimes wrongly determines as, evil. he gets himself hurt a lot by just throwing himself into fights he's not strong enough, not by miles, to win. and this never changes his mindset. he just says they got lucky.

i think this goes deeper than arrogance. his view of reality is very messed up, and it doesn't help he's involved with the mutant ninja kraang alien world the way he is, and sees all these things that a normal human would call him crazy if he ever repeated it. it's not surprising that he struggles (even if he doesn't know it) with what's real with himself and his world and what's not. and unfortunately, i think it would take a lot for the group to realise he genuinely is suffering from a disorder of some sort that is affecting how he sees reality.

Thank you for this ask!! It's time for the employment AU. Hehe just kidding, but I'm not. Casey is going to get a job.

So I keep thinking about the idea of money in the farmhouse. They have money for food, but where from? They have no parents or jobs, right? Well, the more I thought about it, the more I kept thinking about Casey getting a job while they're at the farmhouse, on some sort of construction site. Not his ideal pick, but it was close enough that he could walk without being seen in the hippie van, and the pays enough to feed six people.

I imagine it like this. The eight episodes in the farmhouse take place on the days where Casey doesn't have work. The rest of the time, he's working all day. And because we all love the angst, his hours are going to be WHACK. Starting at 6am, waking everyone up as he throws up before getting ready for work, coming home at 9pm for no reason other than "I had to," "Boss made me,".

The job is very physically demanding as he's moving materials, helping with building etc. They're down men and don't have enough workers so they didn't care about any of Casey's non-existent qualifications or experience, they hired him on the spot and he now does all sorts of tasks instead of having just one assigned to him. It's exhausting.

He comes home and passes out on the sofa, aching and tired, having been forced to work overtime without being able to let the group know. All he asks for from the group is food, he wants them to save him dinner when he comes in and serve it out to him when his bones feel like mush and he can hardly hold a fork. I'm imagining a distant father who works all day, eats dinner silently with his family, then goes to bed lmao. So the group, pitying him, do just that and a little more, cleaning his room for him, changing the sheets and doing his laundry without complaint because he's barely there to do it anyway.

Until one day, dinner is a disaster. Burned to a crisp. Everyone just fend for yourself because "You were the one who wasn't watching it!" "You never told me to watch it?!" "Why do I have to tell you? Just use your brain and watch it!"

Casey comes home a few hours later, absolutely starving and exhausted to tears, and finds there is no dinner. He's been thinking about dinner all day, and there is no dinner. He doesn't want to fend for himself, he wants to die. So, rather pathetically, he takes himself off to bed while everyone else, feeling guilty, watches him go. They can't just leave him to starve in bed!! Somebody do something!! So, April and Mikey manage to find some food in the kitchen that can pass as a meal, and take it up to his sad sorry ass as he lays sadly in his bed, too hungry to sleep.

Casey in this AU is I guess kind of depressed, he's exhausted a lot of the time, comes home to a house where no one has had to work and has done, other than chores, what they like all day. It's obviously upsetting for him, on top of losing New York, his family, his hockey team and just about everything else he's ever known. But, on the bright side, he does get jacked! Good for him.

casey asks her in the lair why she didn’t come find him at school like she said she would, and she admits it’s because his friends are scary.

“what?! they’re fine, i swear!”

“one of them in your group, i don’t know who, knocked sean p into my classroom and he fell through the entire front row of desks and broke them all!”

“oh yeah, that was me, i pushed him in there. apologies!”

april will sometimes get notified that a boy who’s name she doesn’t know (always different) tagged casey in a story, and when she looks, he’s genuinely on some bullshit like forcefeeding his friend a shoe or three of them hiding in the toilet stalls from a teacher that’s searching for them. even better, casey’s story is always some bullshit, everytime he goes to school, so maybe two or three times a week.

there’s an explosive incident that closed off a hallway? it’s on casey’s story, his friend did it. the turtles get told DO NOT come on casey’s fire escape that night?it’s on his friends story, they’ll all in his room making a mess. they even learn what nick looks like because casey’s friends film a video of them dropping yogurt on his head from the third story then running.
