Simone de Beauvoir, The Woman Destroyed
May we all know decadence such as this
"godless beast" and it's literally Dionysus in animal form.

fun fact about languages: a linguist who was studying aboriginal languages of Australia finally managed to track down a native speaker of the Mbabaram language in the 60s for his research. they talked a bit and he started by asking for the Mbabaram word for basic nouns. They went back and forth before he asked for the word for “dog” The man replied “dog” They had a bit of a “who’s on first” moment before realizing that, by complete coincidence, Mbabaram and English both have the exact same word for dog.
on a similar note, a traditional Ojibwe greeting is “Nanaboozhoo” so when the French first landed in southern Canada they thought that they were saying “Bonjour!” Which is fucking wild to think about. Imagine crossing the ocean and the first people you meet in months somehow speak French.
my favorite Accessory Fact to this is that we know more about the etymological history of the Mbabaram “dog” than the English “dog”
The etymology for Mbabaram “dog” has been reconstructed back to Proto-Pama-Nyungan, which was spoken “as recently as about 5,000 years ago”:
From *dwog(a) < *udwoga < *gudwaga < Proto-Pama-Nyungan *gudaga. Related to Dyirbal guda, Yidiny gudaga.
While the etymology for English “dog” has been reconstructed confidently only back to Olde English, which was spoken from about the 5th to the 12th centuries:
Inherited from Middle English dogge (akin to Scots dug), from Old English dogga, docga, of uncertain origin.

The tragedy of Anakin’s story is Faustian, and obviously, the comparisons to Faust are deliberate. Lucas has admitted as much, and let’s be honest: he’s not subtle in the film itself. Anakin makes a literal deal with the devil in trying to save his wife. Fire and brimstone rain down on our characters during their penultimate confrontation. Anakin is left battered, disfigured, charred, a slave to a maniac, his wife dead. Hell is more than alluded to; it’s a main character.

“Do it scared” “do it alone” are all great tips, but my biggest takeaway from therapy is do it messy. This is especially true if you’re getting out of a burnout, which I experience often. Literally just do it messy. You don’t need to pick the perfect trail to walk, the perfect playlist to listen to, whatever the fuck it is. You don’t need to have a meticulous to do list and wake up at the exact time you planned and drink the exact amount of water you planned to drink. Like the biggest thing for people like me to remember is sometimes it’s okay to do it messy. Put on a random yt workout and just get it done in sweats. Do 5 minutes of a daunting task and go from there. Sometimes just getting up is a win during intense burnouts or depressive funks. Literally just do it messy.
