I conceived crescent blue when I was 14 and as such, designed it to appeal to that demographic. Now I’m not even sure anyone in that demographic would even find crescent blue appealing, mostly because of how things have changed since 2016.
Kids don’t watch cartoons anymore; the moment you turn 12, you graduate to adult content like streamers and YouTubers. And when they aren’t doing that they’re playing video games like Fortnite and Roblox. This, combined with the shortened attention spans of Gen Alpha, make anyone under the age of 20 or older getting into my stuff very unlikely especially with the slower pace I’m going for with the story.
To add onto this, my series takes a lot of inspiration visually from Disney made before the turn of the century, and anime also from before the turn of the century. Crescent Blue looks like something that came out in the 2000s or even 90s and someone who grew up with that content would find it appealing but someone who was born long after that point would probably find it old and not worth getting invested into.
And before anyone says it, yes these are assumptions based what I have seen and experienced, and yes that won’t mean someone who is 14 won’t get into crescent blue. But given the state the world is in and how things have changed, the possibility of my story resonating with its original intended audience is low, because it doesn’t exist anymore.
With that being said, am I going to change my series to better appeal to the Gen Alpha Tik Tok crowd? No. My mantra for creating stuff is doing it because I want to and not to pander to a specific crowd. This will mean I’ll have to skew my series audience much older than I thought but I’ll still be writing it to be PG13 and for the tweens I originally intended it be for, under the slim chance that audience is still there… Somewhere…

They've always refused to acknowledge that this is even a language in their global expansions. Talking about bringing accessibility to everyone in the world, yet the seventh most spoken language with 284 million speakers gets thrown under the bus. Because who cares if it doesn't bring them enough profit? Accessibility only matters in the countries they can profit off of the most. Not poor, third world countries where millions of children barely have access to quality media and entertainment, because it just won't make the billionaire corporation enough money 🤡
Thought I'd just make these myself for my bedroom wall.

[THIS IS FANMADE] Lady and the Tramp Bengali poster I made.
Since Disney ever acknowledging this is even a language is a faraway wishful dream, I’m just gonna make my own translations 🤡 spoken by 284 million people, SEVENTH most spoken in the world, and yet is consistently ignored by the mainstream.
I didnt wanna make this today...its Crescent Blue's 10th anniversery of my working on it but I feel like I have to be open and honest about you guys about whats going on with Crescent Blue, and whats going to happen to it from this point on.
You already know that SVA has been taking up a lot of my time and engery for most of the year, so I cant really work on my comic as much during those times like I used to when I was going to community college in the early 2020s. But I would be lying if I said it was just that. There's a problem with the way Ive been handling the series and I believe there needs to be a change now, even if it means I loose half of my audience. But then again, Im pretty Ive already lost a good chunk of my audience after going 2 years with only one or two updates, so it probably wont matter what I do at this point.
To keep it simple, I dont like drawings comic anymore, and if Im being honest, I dont think I ever did. There are aspects of comic making that I do enjoy but its not enough to outweigh the negatives. Most of time when I was drawing the series, it felt more out of obligation than something I wanted to do that day, and in the last year or so, Im now at a point where I dont give a crap anymore, and Ive become more comfortable with uploading borderline to literal rough sketches to tapas and call it a day. Which is great for me but might also be frustrating to some and seen as a downgrade from what I was doing before.
Ive always had a toxic relationship with comics but it wasnt until I started attending the BFA Animation program at SVA it changed forever. Animation and Animatics require the same amount of effort needed for a 20 page comic episode, if not more so, but it didnt feel as draining as comics felt for me and were a lot more creatively rewarding when the project was finished. The entire journey going through an animated project was fun and intuitive, something I cant say the same about comics. Like look at this animatic I made last year, a scene in what will be chapter 3....or I should say was going to be but I'll get to that in a bit
After my first year at animation school, I became a lot more comfortable admitting that drawing comics werent my thing, which led to overall motvation and drive for my comic drying up. In years past, I was able to motivate myself enough to get 10 pages done in a month. Now, I dont think I can pull that feat off anymore and Im at the point of no return. I dont think I have it in me to continue drawing comics going forward...
So what do I do now? Am I going to stop Crescent Blue as a comic, or am I going to continue despite my dislike of the comic medium? I honestly dont know at this point. I want to give comics one last chance to see if I can salvage it, because I do think the way Ive been going about adapting Crescent Blue into comic form has not helped with my enjoyment. But I think it might be best for me to continue the series in animatic/video form. Ive felt more at home with animation than I have with comics and I think Crescent Blue fits the video medium better. If I do post to tapas, it'll only be the boards stacked ontop of each other. Unless you'd actually be okay with following Scamp and his adventures over to youtube going forward. And I'd like you guys to leave your replies here or on tapas or wherever I share this blog to
From Scamp to Scamp: How Lady and the Tramp 2 Impacted Crescent Blue (and my life)
I cant believe its been 10 fucking years. Ignoring all other implications of 2016 being a decade ago, important to this post is that as of today (July 16th), I have now been working on Crescent Blue for almost half my life span. I said something similar 5 years ago but the point still stands now; this the longest Ive ever devoting to a single project in my nearly 24 years of existence. And I could go on about how working on this has changed my life for the better, but I already said that in 2021, so what can I say now that hasn’t been said already? Well, I might as well talk about a movie that is as vital to Crescent Blue as Dragon Ball is to this series and my life for 10 years.
Even though Secret Life of Pets is what sparked inspiration for my series, I owe a lot of Crescent Blue’s inspiration and bedrock dna to the 2001 sequel Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp’s Adventure, something which is obvious to anyone to has seen that movie or is familiar with it but for the longest time was something I hoped people wouldn’t notice. Not because the movie is bad; its one of the better direct to video sequels Disney churned out in the late 90s and early 00s, there are much worse movies out there you could watch and I think it does a better job of maintaining the spirit of the first movie better than the live action remake that came out. But it’s so niche and hyper specific of a thing to take inspiration from. I feel like Id have an easier time explaining to someone that my comic was inspired by stuff like dbz and Yu Yu Hakuho because they’re very well regarded (especially Yu Yu Hakusho plz watch it if you like hunter x hunter you’ll love that show, too). But with Lady and the Tramp 2, I have a hard time explaining why because of its nicheness and hyperspeficity, especially when it comes to the specific reason why Ive been fixated with that film…a reason which I do not feel comfortable admitting here out in the open but if anyone wants to press me, dm me and I’ll maybe consider it. But it’s embarrassing to admit, especially because said hyperfixation began when I was 14 years old, and not when I watched it for the first time when I was 8 or 9. Nope, it when I was entering my first year of high school where, being a teenage boy, you’re supposed to like shit that’s cool and badass, cute Disney dog films are not one of them.
Up until recently, I’ve tried to hide the fact that Crescent Blue owes half of its existence to Lady and the Tramp 2. If someone asked, I’d be as vague as possible, and if I had to be specific about it, I’d just mention the first movie and not talk about anything else. But after I became more comfortable admitting that even as a 20 something year old, I still love Thomas the Tank Engine (not as much as I was as a kid though), I’ve come to realize that trying to run away from Lady and the Tramp 2 is a loosing game. It’s a part of me, not just crescent blue but as an artist, and I either keep ignoring the obvious or just accept it. Realistically, I shouldn’t be embarrassed or feel shame for what I like. Is it weird and niche, yes? But is that a bad thing? No, and it shouldn’t be; and it’s something I appreciate how things have changed since 2016. For all the awful shit going on in the world right now, its more okay for people to express their interests, no matter how weird they might seem to outsiders, than it was in 2016 when cringe culture was at its peak. Yes, there are people in 2026 who are assholes, but those people are nothing but NPCs that hate their life and partake in mindless consumerism. And while that secondhand embarrassment hasn’t entirely dissipated, I have been making an effort to normalize my interests not just for others but myself. And its I lesson I believe you guys should take if you haven’t done so already!
Apart of me has also been worried that people would also see my series as knock of Disney LATT and Disney ocs, but I don’t think that’s something I have to worry about. Crescent Blue has grown so much since 2016 and its developed its own identity that, I think, makes it stand on its own. Like look at the main character, Scamp Russell. Sure he shares the same name as you know who, but he’s own character with his own backstory, supporting cast, and design. I might have to change his name in the near future but scamp is not a copyrightable name so fuck you Disney!!!!!!!!
It’s kinda funny looking back on the whole SJW shit from 10 years ago because as an adult, I’ve kind of adopted their beliefs or at least what they were trying to say. I believe people should be equally, regarding of race, sex or gender. I believe in lgbtq rights and that any so called “Christian” who attacks anyone because they’re not straight or cis is not a real follower of Christ. I believe our current system was design to put white people, or in america’s case, anyone with a lighter skin complexion, at a higher degree of success, making not only non “whites” the victim but also white people too since the average Caucasian dude has no idea. And lastly, that conservatives are the real cry babies, who have to shelter themselves in safe spaces and get their Jamie’s in a wad when they find something offensive.
Now look over what I wrote. While it depends on the person, what I said does not sound radical, or insane, it’s sounds reasonable and fair. So why were so called social justice warriors infamous back in the day. It’s simple: they worded in such a horrible, really bad way, or came to very extreme conclusions. Like feminism for example; in 2015 that was a toxic word that meant you hated men, because of bunch of wackos used the feminist movement to be hateful towards men. And then there’s the whole demonization of white people as a whole, and the bullshit of “black people/asians/whatever cant be racist towards white peoples” which I still think is horse crap (be better, don’t sink to their level). And adding on that, they never specified that the real problems were the systems in place, but instead made out the typical white guy to be evil just for existing, all while acting morally superior and douche about it. I don’t know about you but that’s not going to win over people to your side, if anything, it’s only going to embolden them to the enemy. And I don’t wanna say that’s how Trump won and how we’re in this mess but…it is a contributing factor I feel like.
Shit like this made me think I was conservative when I was a stupid teenager, which I’m not and never have been, but when you’re dealing with extremes, it can feel like you relate more to one side of the political isle than the other. Fortunately we have moved past this phase and now MAGA and the right are punching bags again, but I think in order to avoid another SJW era, we have to be more civil and level headed, especially when it comes to people’s ignorance. The truth is that the average person isn’t that aware when it comes to social issues and instead of ostracizing them and assuming they’re bigoted, give them the benefit of the doubt and teach them about it. We’re all humans and we make mistakes, and it’s important not treat others badly and help them find the way. Otherwise you’ll just push them away!
I feel like I’m rambling at this point but just…be kind and patient! Something something love thy neighbor! God bless! 🙏

Got some character sketches for you guys, featuing the Junkyard Dogs!
One of the ideas I had going into this was to overhaul and designs and characters of the Junkyard Dogs. To be honest, the Junkyard Dogs are probably the least memorable part of the film, outside of the boston terrier Francis, who kinda looks like Iggy from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and one of the dogs voiced by Patrick Star's VA. Since this the story is going to be expanded much more than it was originally, that can provide me some oppurotunies to make them theyre own characters and make them more apart of the story.
We have Franky and Ruby (Ruby's breed has been changed) and Joe Silver, who is, fun fact, one of the dogs that Tramp had to save Lady from in the first movie, making him as old as Buster, if I decided to keep him the same age as Tramp.
Something Ive floated around was the idea of making most of the Junkyard Dogs closer in age to Scamp then they were in the original movie and that included Buster hypothetically. He will still have his grudge against Tramp but it wouldnt be from the perspective of a former friend/implied lover but a son who thinks his father abandoned him and who led his mother on. I would be lying if I said I wasnt doing this because of his relationship with Angel in the original movie which......might be implied to be one sided romantic relationship. I know thats not what Disney intended (I hope) but I know Im not the only one who came away with that interpretation. So if he was younger, not puppy age but closer to Angel's age, their one sided romantic relationship would be less weird. Now thats IF I want to age him down. I could also keep him the same age but turn Angel and Buster's relationship into more of a father daughter dynamic, which would allow me to potentionally make the fanon interpretation of Buster and Tramp's relationship official. But I'll still need to do more work before I can settle on one or the other but what do you guys? Are you up for a different take on Buster or keep him pretty much the same?
I know Im writing this to the void but this in the case someone takes interest in this silly lil idea. :P
Behold!!!! The poster/cover for Whirlwind!
Im pretty proud of how this came out ngl and its getting me excited for this upcoming project (now I realized what BTAMIY needed more of lol)! I hope you guys are hyped too ^-^
Synopsis:
Scamp has never felt like he belonged. A free spirit trapped in a strict and repressive household with overbearing parents; he always longed to be wild and free. One day, he gets his chance and runs away from home to join a gang known as the Junkyard Dogs. Little does he know that he will be carrying on his father’s legacy by doing so. Inheriting the will of the Tramp, his name is the Whirlwind!
So Ive kind of been on a Lady and the Tramp fixation lately, with me writing one fanfiction project and starting two others. And if this does end up going anywhere, this will be a fourth one XD In this one's defense, the idea of this is something I came up with last year, and even started writing a screenplay of it. Since Im juggling so many stuff at once, I am aware I wont be able to get to everything Im working and this includes this one, but if anyone does show interest or asks questions, I will consider going ahead with this project when I have the time.
The project's name is... Whirlwind.
What is 'Whirlwind'?
'Whirlwind' to put it simply is a revisioned version of Lady and the Tramp 2 Scamp's Adventure, released by Walt Disney Television Animation in Feburary 2001. The general plot of the Whirlwind will essentially stay the same as the original movie; Scamp feels pent up in his home life and wants to be wild and free, he runs away from home before realizing how much his family misses him, and eventually learns to be greatful of the things he has and returns home a changed dog, but with some tweaks and changes that will enhance the story and its potential.
I would like to preface this by saying that this is not being made in the same mindsight as other remakes, where the people behind it look down on the original story theyre adapting and view their new version as the fixed 'better' version. While Im not a big Lady and the Tramp 2 super fan, I do hold a level of respect for the movie because of how much its had an effect on my life over the past decade. I can see the potential of what the people behind it were trying to do while also recognizing where the film stumbles. Its not a perfect sequel, or even a standalone movie; its got a lot of flaws but not enough to be called terrible. But there aspects of the movie I found interesting and the entire goal of this project is to not only address the problems the story has but also amply the good aspects in a way the writers couldnt with how crunched for time they were when it came to making the direct to video sequels.
Goals with this Re Imaginging
There are some things Id like to do with Whirlwind that'll elevate it above it being a simple rewrite. There are angles I want to attack this story at that the original film makers didnt think too much about. But the big ones will be listed below
Scamp
Scamp's personality and character arc will remain largely the same but with some minor tweaks here and there. One of the biggest problems people have with Lady and the Tramp 2 is Scamp as a character how unlikely he is, being very bratty and selfish. Which is true and I think that was intentional on the writers part, so that he could undogo a character arc where he ends the movie with a much different outlook on how he treats his home life. The issue is that I dont think the writters wanted the audience to hate Scamp, and I dont think they did a good enough job of making him likeable enough for the audience to cheer for him. Thats not say Im going to make Scamp a good tooshoos, but I dont want to explore more of his good side while also making his plight at home more understandable from his perspective. Like how the first episode of Yu Yu Hakusho handled Yusuke's characterization. We see him being a punk at school but we also see that he has a kind side when he entertains a small boy and when he saves said small boy from being hit by a car. This perfectly sells his likeablity to us, the viewer, thus making us root for him and sell us on the fact that his family and friends do want him back. Now Im gonna kill Scamp off, bring him back, and make him a spirit detective obviously, but I would like to make him as a character a bit more likable from the start so that we dont just focus on his negative traits.
As for his desries to be wild and free, unlike in the original, I dont want him to entirely forgo that at the end of the story, which will tie in to the different ending I have for 'Whirlwind'. Scamp will return home to his family with Angel, like he did in the original movie, but as time goes on and he fully mutures into an adult, he comes to realize that his desire to be wild and free didnt go away. Even though he realized how much his family loved him and how much he loved them, he still wont feel satisfied with the life of a house pet. This will lead to him leaving his home again, but this time with the promise he'll return to visit. Angel will, obviously accompany him and maybe have an omage to the 'beyond those distant hills' speech Tramp has in the first movie as the final scene of the story. This will mean that his desire to be "wild and free" wont be treated more neutrally than something thats negative; basically going for more nuiance here. This will also mean I'll need to tweak Angel's character a bit, where she learns that the concept of a family doesnt have to be this one specific but can be anything, even if its with the person you love so much.
Romance
I will retain Scamp's and Angel's romance in Whirlwind (not just for OTP reasons), but I do want to have their relationship be more central to the story than it was originally. As much as I hate to say it, I do feel like the romantic subplot in the movie was not handled too well and felt shoved in to meet a quota that I feel like a lot of kids movies at the time had, where the main character has to have a love interest just because. Now, I understand this is a Lady and the Tramp movie, so of course, but I feel the romance in the first movie was woven in much better than it was in the 2nd movie and with Whirlwind, I want to correct that by having their relationship more important to the narative. In order to do this, Angel will be much more of a main character than she was in the original, and I'd have more scenes with them together and overall, have Scamp's change be because of Angel, much like how Tramp's change in the original was because of Lady.
Father, Son and Legacy
This ones going to be a little more complicated to explain but I'll try my best.
An interpretation Ive had of Lady and the Tramp 2 is how at the end of the day, its the story of a son who wants to (unknowlingly) follow in the steps of his father, and the story of a father who doesnt want his son to follow in his steps. One thing I wanna do with Whirlwind is hone on that idea with the story also focusing on Tramp as equally as it will with Scamp. We'd delve more into his backstory, his reasonings for being so hard on Scamp, and have him go through a change of his own; understanding that he cant control his son forever and accepting that Scamp being like him doesnt have to be a bad thing. I feel like this would make the story more of a true continuation rather than feeling like a spin off; with us developing one of the main characters from the first movie.
Now when it comes to legacy, I mean it in how Scamp mirrors his father, or at least how Tramp was in the 1st movie; priortizing freedom over everything else. And this comes out more when he joins the junkyard dog, even using his father's nickname as a title, much like Tramp's name was. This is admittidly more of a unique angle to the story but I feel like it would be an interesting take that I dont think Ive seen anywhere else.
There are other things but these are the main goals I'd like to achieve with Whirlwind. Now the question comes of how am I going to tell this story? Is this going to be an AO3 story? A fancomic? An animatic? As much as I do love writing, I do think this story would benifit from a visual medium. I still need to write the screenplay, which I have started but havent finished yet. But, like I said, if anyone here finds my ideas interesting I'll possible consider pursuing this project more in the future! Until then, stay toasty

Fanfic Announcement! "The Best Thing About Me Is You": A Lady And The Tramp 2 Story
What's this? Ken doing a fanfiction instead of his original works!? Le gasp!
I dont normally dable into the world of written fanfiction but recently I came up with an idea for a story that might be interesting to the 5 people who happen to find the idea interesting as well. And its a AU based on the main protagonist and heroine from the 2001 direct to video movie lady and the tramp 2, Scamp and Angel. Now normally, I wouldnt be posting about this so publically because this hyperfixation of mine is something Im really REALLY self conscious about (I am comfortable talking about my interest in Thomas and Friends than I am about this, no joke), but recently Ive made an effort to be more open and comfortable with it because of how much its had an impact on my creative works and the direction my life has taken for the past decade. Its apart of me and trying to run away from it would useless at this point.
Anyways, the story is up both on fanfiction.net and most recently, AO3, so if you wanna go read the first chapter right now, be my guest!
Synopsis: After leaving her life in California, Angel finds herself back in her hometown of Walton, where she's reunites with old friends including her childhood friend Scamp, whom she develops feelings for. Both are young adults trying to find their place in the world and perhaps they'll learn that they'll be able to do it together.
