Hari nods in acknowledgement of the boy’s reply. He can’t judge him, considering his own past. Actually, Hari felt like he was in no position to lecture anyone, not even Overhaul - maybe this was one reason he was so glad to be a follower and not a leader.
He notices that the other scratched himself a bit, but decides not to pry over this matter for the time being. If he was actually running away, he must have his own reasons. Hari knew from experience that those were never good.
Both his question and his smirk linger on Hari’s mind. If only he could… But that would mean leaving him behind. Hari couldn’t make himself break his promise, sever the one bond that keeps him alive, distance himself from the person that gives his existence a purpose, a meaning.
He taps his own cup, feeling just a little anxious at the idea.
“Wish I could,” the yakuza replies with a sigh. He can’t dump all his feelings on a teenager like that, and hopes he doesn’t notice his own emotional burden. “Let’s say I’m taking a break.”
‘ Wish I could. ‘ This stranger knows how to choose powerful words, THAT’S certain. In three words, he summed up the feeling of being t i r e d and hopeless. Where all you can do is ‘keep moving forward’.
The message RESONATES with him. He grunts, nods knowingly, and hides his face in his cup for a moment to refresh himself.
