TINCTURE/TONIC: Alcohol based; highly concentrated; An abstract typically with a base of ethyl alcohol made with dry herbs; decent time is needed for preparation of tinctures/tonics.

SALVE/BALM: Often oil or fat based; thick and creamy; for external application; a healing paste or ointment laced with herbs.

ESSENTIAL OILS: Magical oils made from plant extracts; diluted extracts.

POULTICE: Chopped plant material; often used as a compress; a soft, moist, mass often heated and medicated by use of herbs to relieve aches, pains, and inflammation; can be infused with other potions.

SMUDGE: Otherwise a smudge stick; a bundle of dried herbs bound with string, used for emotional, psychic, and spiritual purification.

INCENSE: An aromatic gum, or other substance, producing a pleasant odor when burned, used in ceremonies and to enhance a mood.

TISANE: Hot-water based; herbal extract.

MACERATE: Cold-water based; plant infusion.

INHILATION: Vapor from a potion.

DECOCTION: For immediate ingestion; concentrated; sturdy ingredients; you may need to reduce your mixture to get rid of any excess or unwanted water.

VINEGAR: Vinegar based; masks ingredients; highly concentrated.
