Six years of lost memories, six years later...

The World of Wait and Hope will be leaving Ao3 on 2/20/26, six years after I began posting it on a complete whim. Never could I have imagined what a journey W&H and I would go on together, and I could not be more grateful to every person who has read and loved this story over the course of the last six years.

This may be the end of one era, but it's the beginning of another, and I'm incredibly proud of how this story has evolved into a new form and so excited for its traditional publishing journey. And Peter’s standing in the doorway in pajamas and like, pikachu slippers, and he’s like, “The AP history test is tomorrow. I need you to tell me everything you know.”

Sometimes when I’m down, I remember that scene at a convention when Leonard Nimoy and De Kelley are reading fanfiction to the audience, and they pause at a scene to remember the destroyed Enterprise and place their hands over their hearts

and De does a double-take, skips over to Nimoy, and fixes his hand so it’s on his lower ribcage, where the vulcan heart actually is, and then goes back to his spot and remarks something like “I should know I’m his doctor” and continues on.

Not mythic or externally enhanced—He’s just real.

That’s why he matters more than ever.

Because Sam Wilson is the bridge between what America says it is, and what it has to become if it ever wants to be whole.

I just wish they had given us some of his thought process for making that move. It would have made his return to superhero-ing more satisfying if we had seen the thought process the whole way through.

idk thinking about how sometimes you have to show up for people you aren't that close to, because sometimes you're just the person who's there. sometimes you invite a new friend to a party and end up having to sit with them through a panic attack. sometimes you run into an acquaintance on their worst day and they need to talk about what happened. sometimes someone is crying in a stairwell and you're the only one around to ask if they're okay. and none of this is "trauma dumping" or whatever the fuck it's just being there for people because you're the one in the room with them.

My then-coworker was pregnant with her second child. One day she mentioned being terrified she'd go into labor at three in the morning and no one would be available to take care of her toddler while she went to the hospital.

"I know it's stupid," she said, "but I can't stop thinking about it."

"Call me if that happens, " I said, because we lived 15 minutes away from each other. "I'll run over and watch her until her grandparents get there."

And I didn't think too much of it at the time, but after my coworker came back from maternity leave she told me that this conversation, where some girl from work promised to give up a couple hours of sleep if her family had an emergency, was the reason she was able to sleep at night for the rest of the pregnancy.

Has Stan ever said anything positive about Mackie? Not to be parasocial but i keep seeing people saying they like "stackie" and the actors doing interviews together etc and Mackie seems nice and uplifting but whenever Stan brings up Mackie he seems annoyed.
