the amount of pressure we put on lonely people who turn to that kind of technology for companionship is...... maybe not great? is AI terrible for literally everything; the earth, art, technology, our brains? yes. will these people who rely on AI for companionship develop AI psychosis? probably.

but you literally cannot go to someone and be like "hey stop using AI for friendship just go make friends idiot" and expect that to work, right? like not to 'male loneliness epidemic' on main but making friends is hard, and even when you do have friends, sometimes they're not around when you really need someone to talk to, and you can express that you're having a hard time and still feel lonely because people don't know how to deal with their friends having a hard time. genuinely.

"well you can always message me!!" cool. about what. what are they allowed to tell you? can they trauma dump? or do you not have the energy for that? can they ask you for reassurance? or do you not know how to give that because you barely know them? what if they don't know where to begin? what if they go "hi" and you go "hi" and they don't know what to say next and you don't say anything further because it's "not your problem"?
