The logistic chain of mining out new rooms, training engravers, setting up militia squad training regiments, adjusting stockpile desig ation and producing new beds and rooms for everyone. if you intentionally choose to disregard peoples' existences based on their appearance or behaviours, you have biases that you absolutely need to deconstruct before people like me can ever feel safe around you.
you can start by saying nothing about how you "just can't believe it" when someone you don't know exists as a system where you can see. you can keep going by trusting the people in your life when they share extremely vulnerable information about themselves.
telling someone that you're part of a system feels like exposing your soft underside. I've cried from terror almost every time I've had to reveal it to someone I care about, and I don't cry easily. if someone tells you they're part of a system, they're placing a monumental amount of trust in you.
please don't break that trust.
actually, another thing!!! you are seeing systems who:
1. actually know that they're systems (this is rare. being online makes resources on figuring it out WAY more accessible) 2. happen to exist in the same online space as you, the tumblr user reading this 3. are, as a result, usually younger and/or autistic and/or queer, which are all factors that can influence individual alters' identities.
so of COURSE you think we're all like this. you're looking at one damn tree instead of the whole forest!!! there are systems who are 60 years old and never had the resources to figure out what was going on. there are systems who are 30 and barely use social media for personal reasons. there are systems who are 20 and don't tell anyone because of the cruelty they've faced every time they try. there are systems who are 15 and are SO relieved to have answers to why everything felt weird and wrong their whole life, so they shout it from the rooftops. your limited interactions with systems in specific online spaces does not represent the majority of systems on earth.
even if it did represent the majority of systems on earth we STILL deserve to be treated like people. this should not be something I have to beg for!!!!!
guys i’m so sorry to say this but exercising and indulging in hobbies rather than scrolling on your phone for 200 hours actually does improve your mood and overall mental health, this has deeply upset me more than anyone

while I'm currently mapping out my story, as someone who's trying to tie serious themes into my work regarding the queer racialized experience, I see so many projects out there that boast about having their epic non binary disabled blue haired cat person (I'm disabled and trans and black I can make this statement) but they never explain what the story is Abt. and when they do explain and has serious themes in it they...kinda treat the reader like they're juvenile for these themes, often killing any impact it would have within the work.
I think labels are good for a type of story to tell but when you're actively trying to hold the hand of the viewer/reader over the most minute but upsetting topic it feels weirdly infantilizing and it's something that frustrates me.
I want to see more stories that have trauma similar to mine that isn't just explaining it to me like a toddler. write characters to be true to yourself and vision not to a cannibalistic audience.
I could easily market paws crossed as:
"THIS STORY HAS A DISABLED FURRY IN A T4T POC CODED RELATIONSHIP!!!!" and often I am excited for my characters marginalized status but honestly I feel like that doesn't wholeheartedly summarize the premise and story and if anything comes off as pandering.
my story has upsetting topics and there will be warnings ahead but I will not pull any punches especially with depicting both the joy and raw pain of the queer experience because quite honestly I'm tired of people trying to sanitize our lives our lives are painful and joyful simultaneously. it won't be perfect, but it would feel good to get it out my system.

The idea that there is a particular way you're *supposed* to be touched and like it sounds pretty bad when you put it like that doesn't it? I've had to thoroughly deprogram myself from cishetero normative ideas about what sex even *is* in order to feel remotely normal about my body & sexuality. Talking to more trans/lesbian/ace/kinky people (in any combination of the four) teaches you you're allowed to say no, to anything, for any reason. But carefully negotiated pre-planned theater riffing on real world power structures for fun is scary so it must be the deviant perverts that are the problem and not, like, normal men in real life
& the thing about people practicing kink unsafely/under-negotiated is that it *does* happen but in the kink community these people are universally regarded as Doing It Wrong. And that type of behavior is still running straight people software (i.e. it's usually misogyny) & this violation of boundaries via assuming they can do whatever they want to someone else's body would still be just as bad if it was vanilla, actually ! Hey so I still see people utterly baffled by how religious fundies (still a majority in America and moreso its senate) react on certain issues so uhhh is it actually not common knowledge what the antichrist is all about? You guys know his defining characteristic is ending war, right? That he’s foretold to unite the world under his leadership by preaching global peace and solving basically every single problem in the world? So you know when you try to talk to these people about equality and togetherness they literally believe that’s what makes you an agent of the devil right???

Yes, he’s called the “antichrist” because he’s an imposter Jesus and the majority of the world will love him when he ends all class divides and erases all borders, creating one world government with him at the top. That’s the “new world order” they’re terrified of. But they think he’ll oppress true Christian believers who see through his ruse, which is why they’re constantly looking for signs that they’re being discriminated against and panic when they lose any control over government. This is why they fear diversity, immigration, socialized anything. The less religious right are pretty clearly still running on the same logic; they might drop some of the spiritual lore but this is where they get the idea that all progressivism leads to the “real” fascism. Some believe the antichrist isn’t a literal person either but just that entire set of beliefs, so everyone protesting against war and trying to feed the hungry is a *collective* antichrist.
So from the notes it turns out people are MUCH less familiar with all this than I suspected and that’s honestly kind of alarming, guys, you should really really pay attention to things that affect so much of this country. No these are absolutely not obscure or fringe beliefs, these are MAINSTREAM with megachurches, Trump voters, the GOP and a vast proportion of the wealthy. Alex Jones and multiple Fox News hosts openly believe word for word what I described here.
And yeah as several people pointed out it isn’t even explicitly in the bible, but something some radicals pieced together in maybe only the last century. My uncles all believe it to the letter and they all believe it’s what the Bible is “supposed” to be communicating.
A lot of people are also confused as to why they would believe the peace and unity are villainous things and what the difference even is then between the “antichrist” and actual Jesus, which brings me to another thing I realize some folks CRITICALLY overlook about American Christianity, which is that they do not believe in good or bad deeds. They believe the same deed can be right or wrong strictly according to whether or not it’s performed by a believer with God’s stamp of approval. Like, they KNOW the Satanic Church and Witch Covens do community service or donate to cancer research and they are not confused, surprised, bitter or embarrassed by that at all. It’s exactly what they’re taught to expect. They believe the forces of Satan do primarily “good” things so people will think he’s just as good or better than God. So if a pastor heals a sick child with a prayer then that’s good, but if a “witch” heals the same sick child with “magic” (not something I believe exists, but they do) then that’s a false miracle from the devil and the child was better off dying because now everyone involved is a sinner who deserves hell. They’re taught to view you as a ridiculous fool if you don’t grasp this difference, and every single argument you might make is a part of the satanic trickery.
After all, they think our entire existence on this Earth is an insignificant speck in the grand scheme of things. The suffering in the world isn’t a bug to them, but a feature that God set up to test everyone’s worthiness, teach them lessons and filter out the faithless, so they actively do not believe it’s always morally right in itself to help people or save lives. Rather, certain people are just intended to suffer and die and it can be MORE wrong to help them.
Sorry to put this big ass thing on your dashboards again but I’m downright awestruck by the notes. There’s 15,500 of them at the time of this reblog and almost zero disagreement, just hundreds of people expressing absolute terror that they didn’t realize they were living under the thumb of a doomsday cult, and I’m really really sorry for that because I really did not expect to be the bearer of that news to so many. If you haven’t looked at the notes for yourself though, they’re pretty eye opening even to me, especially the next most common type of response on it:

…..so that’s all pretty nightmarish confirmation of how pervasive this mindset is around here, but you know, if the majority of reactions to this information have been either “what the fuck are you talking about?” or “yeah I WAS taught this and I’m better now,” maybe that’s a sign that it’s slowly but consistently fading with every generation?
I actually wasn’t raised religious AT ALL, and it was still impossible for me to not hear this shit constantly in the 80′s and 90′s from basically everyone outside my immediate family. It’d even crop up on television and radio stations that weren’t even supposed to be christian-oriented. Just boom, there’s an evangelist suddenly talking about how Only God is Allowed to End War and Satan Takes the Form of Kindness, like these were just normal banal perspectives to toss in between a relationship advice segment and the latest movie reviews. I’m really proud of every person saying they escaped from that indoctrination and actually feel much better and more hopeful about the whole thing. It might not be fixed completely in our lifetimes but clearly it is fixable.

This may be a stupid question but what are you playing as in Dwarf Fortress? Cause like you can give dwarfs commands but they can also not listen implying you are not perfect embodying the dwarfs. So is there a narrative explanation for how your commands get to the dwarfs?
The player is the god Armok. This is canon, and even the case in Adventure Mode where you have more direct control.
There have been accounts of players that go on killing sprees in Adventure Mode where the character within the game itself will begin crying at the sheer violence and horror they are being subjected to against their will. It's a bit morbid.
To clarify this a bit, the game was previously called Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress. During world creation, the continents, the artifacts, historical events, and lesser deities are all created. Armok is the only constant, able to create new worlds and discard them on a whim.
As noted, Armok here is the player. The head deity who can control everything but, for some reason, periodically takes a very deep focus on a particular fort or group of adventurers, bending them to its will. As the god of Blood, it is primarily interested in chaos and mayhem and bizarre situations, which, as any player of Dwarf Fortress knows, is the thing everyone loves about the game and enjoys swapping stories about.
