Why is phonemic awareness an important component of children’s early literacy?

It is important because it is a basis for other literacy development to grow off of. It is a stepping stone for other skills students will learn later on.

Gosh this is adorable. This little girl already understands so much about reading - emotional connections, how to hold a book, making predictions, visual representations, etc. Clearly, decoding is not the only way to learn how to read.

The Magic School Bus: Blows Its Top

Discuss real volcanoes and where they are located in the world. Activity: make volcanoes, name them them, and choice a where you want your volcano.
