Her Imperial Highness The Duchess of Kent and His Royal Highness Prince Sebastian of Castiel released their Christmas Card earlier this week.

His Imperial Highness The Prince of Astanara, Prince Reginald is the current Prince of Astanara. Although the principality is a part of the Caledonyian Empire Prince Reginald still has an important role as chief advisor to His Imperial Majesty The Emperor.

Her Imperial Highness Cassandra The Princess of Astanara. Cassandra is the only daughter of Their Majesties The King and Queen of the Mer.

Raymond: Their Imperial Highness’ The Princess of Avalon, The Duke of Devonshire and The Duke of Newburg, Your Imperial Majesty.

John: Thank you Raymond.

John: Thank you for coming everyone. 

Catherine: Of course Papa, your message sounded urgent. Is everything okay?

John: No, unfortunately it is not Dove. I have been having some worrying symptoms for several months now and your mama finally made me see a doctor and after several months of testing it has revealed that I am in the early stages of multiple sclerosis.

Catherine, Henry and Nick sit in stunned silence for several minutes while the unexpected news sinks in.

Catherine: Oh papa

Nick: Whatever you need you John, Abi and I are here for you.

Catherine: Of course Papa anything you need.

John: Thank you, the news is still settling in but I do know that I want to keep this between us and Nick of course Abi. I don’t want anyone else, especially Ellie to know. It can wait till after the wedding. I will be starting treatment soon and I have been advised that the bad days will outnumber the good for quite sometime. Henry, Nick, I will need help with my patronages and their events.

Henry: Absolutely John, I am more than happy to step in where needed.

Nick: I am more than willing to help John and maybe if we can come up with a reason why, I know Louis would be willing to help also.

John: Alex and I have been talking about a reason to release to the public about why I will be temporarily stepping down. Which brings me to Catherine. Dove, I will need you to step in as Regent for the foreseeable future.

Catherine: I’ll do anything you need but are you sure Papa?

John: I am. Your mother and I have spoken at length and you are the obvious choice as my heir and I will be here to guide you as I can and I know that James and Frederick will also be more than willing to help you where they can. 

Her Imperial Highness The Duchess of Kent and her new fiancee His Royal Highness Prince Sebastian of Castiel attended the wedding of Lady Margaret Schulte, a close personal friend of the Duchess’. Lady Margaret is the youngest daughter of The Marquis of Marholme, one of the more prosperous Marquisdom’s in the Empire. The Duchess of Kent and Lady Margaret met at Simton Boarding School and have remained close since. 

Lady Margaret met the Marquis of Lothian, heir to the duchy of Stonevale at Simton Boarding School where he attended alongside Lady Margaret, members of the Caledonyian Imperial Family and members of foreign royalty. The couple became engaged just last year after graduation. Lady Margaret upon their marriage became the Marchioness of Lothian and will eventually become Her Grace The Duchess of Stonevale.

The Palace announced that the new Marchioness will also be taking the position of Lady-in-Waiting and private secretary for The Duchess of Kent. The Marchioness of Lothian will begin working with the Duchess following her honeymoon.

Alex: Well that really wasn't what we wanted to hear

John: No, but we can’t say the signs weren’t there Allie

Allie: I know John, you know we need to tell the family right John?

John: No Allie, we don’t

Allie: Yes John we do. At the very least Catherine needs to know. It is very likely that she will need to step in as regent. 

John: I guess you might be right, Allie. I just (sighs) I don’t want to burden anyone with this. I mean Ellie just got engaged and she should enjoy this time and not have to worry about her grandfather.

Allie: Of course I’m right. Let’s just leave it at telling Catherine and Henry and maybe Nick. The rest can wait.

The Princess of Avalon announced today that her father-in-law The Duke of Hillchester died this morning.

The Palace announced today that His Imperial and Royal Highness The Duke of Kendel, the only son of the Crown Prince and Princess, is engaged to his girlfriend Lady Cordelia Meora of Elthonia. The couple met through The Duke's cousin Princess Elizabeth, The Duchess of Kent. Lady Cordelia attended an engagement with her mother Princess Brielle, The Duchess of Valoria in Caledonya and Lady Cordelia and The Duchess of Kent became fast friends.

The Duke of Kendel proposed with a 10 ct pearl, pearl shaped ring.

Although no definite date has been announced, the palace did state that the wedding would occur after the wedding of the Duke's cousin The Duchess of Kent to Prince Sebastian of Castile.

With autumn well underway and winter soon approaching, Chatingham Palace held its last garden party of the season. Emperor John, The Princess of Avalon and The Duchess of Kent were on hand to celebrate with those in attendance. The Princess of Avalon looked lovely in a dark red dress and matching hat and The Duchess of Kent looked beautiful and bright in an peach dress and matching hat.

The Duchess of Kent's press office out of St. Thomas Palace released several of the newly engaged couples engagement photos. Prince Sebastian proposed with a ring from the Castilian Royal Vault, a 10 carat round diamond set into a platinum setting, reportedly belonged to the Prince's great grandmother Queen Therese of Castile.
