I love every season of Rick and Morty, but why did they have to lean so much into the “Rick is a god” thing in that one season and forever since then. Now there’s no stakes, nothing has to change, unless the writers want it to, and if you know it works like that then the story and characters don’t really matter much, there’s no (as dumb as it sounds to use this term about a show like rick and morty) suspension of disbelief.
Rick is unkillable, inmortal, a robot with a thousand weapons, can do whatever the fuck he wants at any given moment. So now where’s the relatability? Why should i feel sorry for him, why would i pity a god?
I think that’s my biggest complaint with the show, the fact they made Rick as inhuman as possible. Not inhumane, inhuman.
I liked how pathetic he could be, to not be in control all the time—could die. Not always has the answers. Yk. Bring back that repressed pathetic old man!
This season of Rick and Morty felt weird. Like, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. The animation i love, the jokes were okay mostly, but just, the vibes… i miss season one vibes. Where the horrors weren’t rly taken seriously and i had to laugh at the absurdity of everything.
But it’s too late to go back, please don’t. Obviously i want Rick n Morty to be happy or at least change their dynamic to something else. But, it feels like the writers are constantly backpedaling. Choose a side! Is Morty sassy and done with Rick or is he vulnerable and goes along with everything Rick says? I don’t get it, but maybe traumatized 14 year olds are like that, i wouldn’t know.

Time loop hc
What if Rick's central finite curve apart from separating the dumb Ricks from the smartest Ricks, is also a time loop sort of like a time capsule. i think he did this on purpose to suffer forever or something equally depressive. That's why they don't get older, time is a closed circle. And they know it, i think, their memories don't get erased that's why they've evolved so much through the seasons, or at least Morty remembers.
