Devils Tower was established as America’s first national monument by President Theodore Roosevelt on September 24th in 1906. Rising high out of the Black Hills, in northeast Wyoming, this geological wonder is an astounding sight. Devils Tower National Monument is a sacred place to over 20 Native American tribes and is also called “Bear’s Lodge” or “Bear’s Tipi.” Reaching 867 feet from its base to the summit, the Tower stands tall in the minds of all its admirers. It’s easy to have a good time in Badlands National Park in South Dakota. The park’s rugged beauty comes from millions of years of geologic forces building up and tearing down this unique landscape and can be explored from numerous trails. Visitors can see bison, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs and black-footed ferrets in their native habitat as well as the fossilized remains of ancient mammals like three-toed horses, oreodonts and saber-toothed cats. Known simply as “the Arch,” architect Eero Saarinen’s stainless steel construction dominates the St. Louis skyline. Finished in 1965 and standing 630 feet tall, the Gateway Arch is the tallest memorial in the U.S. and its ingenious elevator design allows visitors to enjoy the incredible view from the top. In 2010, Karen and Matt Smith quit their jobs to embark on a two-year journey to visit all the national parks. “At the time we finished there were 59 parks. We were thrilled when the Gateway Arch was made the 60th national park, and it felt like an honor and a homecoming to return and take our picture in front of the new entrance sign and get the official stamp in our park passports.” Photo courtesy of Karen and Matt Smith.

Annie and I met up at camp and, and we decided to switch places. I’m sorry, but I’ve never seen you and I’ve dreamt of meeting you my whole life and Annie felt the exact same way about dad so, so we sort of just switched lives. I hope you’re not mad because I love you so much, and I just hope that one day you could love me as me, and not as Annie.
