One phone call from Tony Stark himself was all it took to get Sam hauling ass over to New York. Heâd been hearing about all this action happening, and there was always this little itch. A pull that told him to get in on all that was happening.Â
But the last time heâd gone up against HYDRA heâd been grounded, a wing ripped from him and effectively ending his debut as a super hero.Â
And then there was a phone call. A call from one of the richest men in the world saying âHey, I can rebuild your gear. Plus Captain America may need a little help,âÂ
The gear was enough to get him packing, but the fact his friend could need him had him topping 90 on the highway in the dead of night; all that was keeping him up was coffee and a Red Bull.Â
Once in the city heâd told Stark he could talk to him in the morning, right now he was about to crash and their conversation would be cut short. Tony was nice enough to set him up with a hotel room and agreed to see him when it was convenient for him.Â
Now he walked out of Tony Starkâs office, a case in his hand that contained a new and improved pack and he couldnât be more happy. With his keycard and basic access, he decided to tool around the tower; see what else tech wise it had to offer. As well as the people.Â
He sat in the cafeteria now, a few numbers in his pocket and a smile on his face as he carefully opened the case up. And it was beautiful.Â
âGoddamn,â He muttered, wondering the best way to thank a billionaire.Â
He heard someone walk up behind him, most likely to see if the chair across from him was taken, but he was a bit enveloped in the gear to really care.
Kate was adjusting well to her new lifestyle. It was a big change from listening to police scans for potential crimes, now she was getting her assignments from the avengers. She knew that deep down some were still not totally on board about having them being part of this, whatever this was. But S.H.I.E.L.D. had fallen and it was more than just having an organization of that magnitude literally falling for all the world to see, it had a been a reminder that evil guys were everywhere, and they could be anyone. So even if some people were not happy about âhaving a bunch of kids aroundâ, they had no other choice, they needed all the help they could get.Â
And we are not kids anymore, Kate thought every time she felt the stares.Â
She wasnât one to have trouble making friends, although here she knew that it was going to be difficult. Some part of that was that most of them were already friends, or knew each other, the other was them having being betrayed by who they considered friends. It must have been difficult, finding out that someone who you would trust with your life is someone who would not hesitate to end it. If it had happened to her, she wasnât sure she wouldâve survived it.Â
But there was no time for that now, they had a job to do. To protect people, to keep the world safe. It was for that very reason that Kate had decided to become a hero, she was in the big leagues now. And she had to be the best version of herself if she truly wanted to be of use. For someone with no powers running alongside gods and super soldiers, being the best was the only option. She had just finished a training session, as many weapons as she could practice with, and another perfect score with the bow and arrow. She had done a good job, she just needed to continue pushing herself, she had worked hard and she truly believed she deserved a smoothie.
Kate made her way to the cafeteria, there were times where she still got lost in the tower, it was huge! And her ID card gave her access to rooms she wasnât even aware she had access to. But the one place she could always find aside from the training room was the cafeteria. She got her favorite flavor of smoothie, and while wondering if she should have it in her room she spotted a familiar face, familiar in a â i saw you on the newsâ sort of face. She approached his table and hoped she wasnât intruding, she tapped his shoulder lightly and waited to greet him with a smile.
