They state in the episode it’s legit too cold for Charmander like that’s LITERALLY one of the first things Ash does when he’s in the Tunnel he has them use Charmander for heat but he’s having trouble keeping his warmth/flame/ is getting exhausted but this isn’t like a basic snow day they are in a blizzard up on a high mountain and Charmander is this tiny Pokemon who can’t even warm himself long enough
