Amazing hand knitted Shetland lace garden fence

“This beautiful and imaginative creation is the work of Anne Eunson of Hamnavoe, Burra [Shetland Islands, Scotland]. Anne loves lace knitting, and how better to express that affection than by completely wrapping one’s garden up in Shetland lace? The fence is fashioned from strong black twine (the kind used to make fishing nets) and Anne knitted it up on specially adapted curtain poles. It took her about three weeks to knit enough lace to surround her front garden, using a 23 stitch repeat of a familiar Shetland lace pattern.”

So I read this story and just HAD to draw it. I can’t even remember the last time I did a comic… It was so fun! I’ll have to do more. :)

She’s offering to knit you the shawl of your choice from an existing pattern of up to 1,000 yards of yarn plus option 500 beads for just $200! The photos above are examples of her previous AWESOME work.

I don’t know how to explain what a miraculous price this is for custom hand-knit work. There are approximately 20,000 stitches in ONE SOCK. A shawl of this size? Probably closer to 100,000. The work-hours alone would cost you closer to $1000, and Roadie is willing, able and happy to work with you in customizing your order as to color, helping you pick a pattern, and even adding beading. 

This is basically the best deal you’ll ever see for this kind of work. Roadie is one of my knitting heroes, and a freaking awesome person, especially for volunteering her knitting time to help our favorite con!
