“Well, at least you’re over it now, Kat.” Caroline gave her a smile, handing over a cup of coffee. “Here, let’s do something mundane-ish.” 

Katherine grinned as Caroline spoke, nodding her head. “I’ll bet you never thought you’d ever actually be drinking coffee with me, did you?” A soft laugh escaped her lips.

“I just had to.” She repeated. “I ran out of blood bags. I needed to feed my kids first before I prioritize my hunger.” Caroline wiped away the blood reaching her cheek. “You need anything?”

“No need to explain yourself, Caroline. I used to do the same thing, remember?” Katherine sighed gently before shaking her head. “I don’t need anything, no. Got bored sitting at home, that’s all.”

“perhaps you should try something a little less -- potent,” she suggested with a smile.

“You are easily one of the last people I expected something like this from,” Katherine muttered quietly, watching Caroline. 

“they’re said to give good luck, yes. four-leaf clovers are hard to find. i suggest you hold onto that one,” katherine murmured with a smile.

“you should,” she replied with a nod. “it’d be nice having you around more often.”

“yes. do you think i’m lying? try it yourself” alec held out the glass towards katherine.

katherine took a sip from the glass, scrunching up her nose. “that’s incredibly strong, but oddly enough -- i think i may kinda like it.”

“i’ll definitely have to do that.”

“I plan to refuse. I reject the so called truth you talk about.”

“you can’t just reject the truth, lena. that’s so not how this works.”

“ethan, you do realize that you’re welcome over any time, right? you wouldn’t have to be living on frozen dinners and canned spaghetti.”

“I still refuse to believe that.”

“you can refuse to believe it as much as you want. deep down -- i think you know it’s the truth.”
