“Can I help you? Or do you just like getting in people’s way and being a general inconvenience?” 

“If you want to help me you could go drown.”

“Who are we hiding from?” Aurora asked softly. She had been working on yet another spread for the year book when a familiar face grabbed her by the arm and pulled her down below the desk she was working at. “Did you piss someone off and are using me as a shield now? I’ll have you know, I’m pretty awful at being a shield. Trust me, my brothers have tried many times during their nerf fights.“

“SH SH get DOWN!” Karma whispered, yanking Rory back to her level, “Oh trust me, I don’t need a shield. No it’s just. . .” Trailing off, she peaked her head out over the desk, looking for the person she had just saw. “Pepper Ann keeps trying to get me to sign her petition to run for student council. I absolutely refuse. I cannot in good conscious let her become treasurer. She’ll steal the money for film club and use it on a boob job or something.”

“no fucking way” he chuckled, “it’s a horse”

“You’d be surprised how hard it is to get a horse here from America.” Karma snorted, stroking the horse’s mane, “Her name’s Rose. . . Do you ride?”

callie looked down at the girl and her slippers, shaking her head with a chuckle, “i’ll give you 20 minutes”

Karma should have been arguing this. It was against all she stood for. Leaving the school without permission?? And at NIGHT too?? When she had AP gov at 8am??? Still, the girl slide out of her dorm room a few minutes later with street clothes on. “Callie, how do you even plan on getting past the teachers?”

He laughed at that and shrugged his shoulders lightly. “I don’t know, it’s Thomas, you know,” he replied with a laugh. “He’s just… Not my favorite person, I guess,” he said and shook his head. “My dad?” he asked, frowning lightly at her words. “I don’t know… I mean, have I thought about it? I’ve thought about it for years,” he admitted to her. “But it’s just… Different, and with how things are between him and Jackson, y’know? I don’t want to step on that or make things weird with Jackson,” he told her. “Especially after that fight we had a while back…” he said with a frown, shaking his head lightly. “I just don’t think right now is the best time,” he explained to Karma, since she was really the only person he thought he could talk to about this. He laughed at that and parted his lips when she pressed the little piece of chocolate to it, accepting it and eating it. “Mm, you always give the best kisses, Snarma,” he replied with a laugh and a smile, leaning in to kiss her cheek. “Merry Christmas, Snarm.” 

“Oh yeah, I know.” she said, eyes squinting and nodding intently as she recalled all the times he made her want to throw herself or him into traffic. Karma saw Milo’s expression change and quickly squeezed his hand, “Hey, I’m sorry for bringing it up. I just wanted to know where you were at with that.” Karma wanted to point out that things with Jackson would always be weird because he’s an idiot and makes everything weird, but she bit her tongue. “You’re a good brother. . . You okay though?” she asked, stroking his hand with her thumb for assurance, “Honestly at this point I’d just suggest you dressing up as your brother and making up with his dad for him. You’re a lot better at the whole apology thing.” Of course she was joking, but with how clueless the other men in Milo’s family were, it’d probably work. The blonde snorted before popping her own chocolate into her mouth, “I concur, but don’t ever let your mother hear that. Elizabeth would be heartbroken to think her baby boy prefers kisses from someone else.”

“Don’t apologise, I don’t care that much,” she laughed. “I’ll sign it now, there’s no point in coming back later.” The girl grabbed a pen from her desk and signed her name on the paper. “Why have you got stuck doing this?” 

“Alright, as long as I’m not going to walk into 1st period tomorrow with ‘peeping tom’ graffitied on my desk.” the blonde joked, taking the paper back before shrugging, “I think Doyle just knows I’m a bit of a pushover for the Vixens and he can get me to do the boring stuff him and Maddie wouldn’t want to do. Speaking of Vixens, are you running for a position or anything?”

“No one, you aren’t leading anyone on!” Milo replied and shook his head. “It’s just people trying to stir trouble like they always do, they don’t know what they’re talking about,” he assured her. “And Thomas deserved it, too,” he said, nose scrunched up at the thought of the tall jock. He didn’t very much like him, pretty much terrified of him and his boyfriend. He laughed at the girl’s response and nodded. “Yeah, I’d really appreciate the help, too,” he assured Karma with a smile. “What? Snarm, you didn’t have to get me anything!” he told her, shaking his head, but did as he was told and closed his eyes, smiling like a goof. 

She grinned, scrunching up her nose like Milo and laughing, “You look like you smelled something horrible every time you hear his name.” Karma got quiet for a second before turning back to him, “Hey, so speaking of your family I was wondering. . . have you thought about meeting your dad yet?” It was probably a really touchy subject, but she felt like it needed to be addressed at some point, “I know everything has been crazy, but I wanted to know how you were feeling about everything, you know?” When Milo complied by shutting his eyes, she snorted, “I got you a kiss, so pucker up, Snilo.” The blonde placed an unwrapped Hershey kiss between his lips and chuckled, “Merry Christmas!”

“What?” Milo asked, shaking his head lightly and looking over at the message that Karma had gotten. He frowned and scoffed at the question. ”Never,” Milo replied honestly, thinking and knowing that Karma wouldn’t ever do something like that to anyone. “They don’t know what they’re talking about, Snarm,” he assured her. He smiled at that and shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know, probably just what we always do. Just go up to our cabin in Aspen,” he explained. “You could join us if you wanted?” he offered with a hopeful smile.

“Yeah, it’s like, who the hell am I leading on anyway? I blue ballsed Thomas like once and that’s the extend of my trickery.” she said, putting her phone away. “Hmm. . . well considering that at the cabin your mom might make you chop firewood, I think I have have to come. Ya know, to make sure you use proper chopping technique and don’t hurt yourself.” Karma smiled, poking his sides. “Oh, speaking of Winter break and Christmasy things, I got you an early present.” she grinned, “You gotta close your eyes though.”

“If this is about Rob then you can fuck off because I didn’t even know he liked me until he blew up at prom.”

“Do you not knock?” The girl frowned at the person at the door. “I could’ve been fully naked.” 

“Oh sorry uhhh--” Karma quickly shielded her eyes with the papers in her hand, “I just wanted to come by and give you the permission slip Dr. Doyle needs us all to sign for the away game.” Karma wasn’t Vixen captain anymore, but Doyle still had her running around doing the boring team stuff, “I can come back later????”

“look it’s wednesday night and as i see it you’ve got two options.” callie started, “stay home, go to bed, be boring, or come with me, stay up all night, have no regrets,  at least not until the morning anyways, interested?”

Karma was already in her pajamas, ready to sleep, when Callie stopped her. “Uhhhhhh. . .” she said, eyes looking around as she held her toothbrush in her hand, “But we have class tomorrow??? And I have my slippers on already! Look!” She pointed to the plush snails on her feet.

“I know how to have fun?? I’m the definition of fun! I’m hot dad at a bbq fun!!”
